Metoprolol Manufacturer

I have taken Mroprolol ER 100mg for eleven years. I have never paid more than $18.00 for a 90 day supply, the last being 90 days ago. Now, it has suddenly gone up to anywhere from $125 t0 $149. I would like to know why there has been the sudden escalation in price.

Well, this site doesn't manufacture or sell any medications, this is an information only website, so I don't have a direct answer for you, but I can give you some ideas as to why the price may have changed.

What pharmacy are you using?

If it is a chain pharmacy, such as QFC/Kroger, Walgreens, or most of the ones that have discount drug programs, then it's likely that the prior price you were paying was the discount program price.

However, such prices are only set for certain periods of time, such as year, 2 years, or whatever the length of time they were able to set, when they got the manufacturer to agree to sell them the medication in bulk at a discount, so they can sell them to customers are these greatly reduced prices. Eventually, these contract terms run out and they may not have been able to get a manufacturer of the time released Metoprolol to agree to a new contract.

I was just talking to a pharmacist at a QFC/Kroger the other day about this and he said that most of their agreements were only good for a year.

The normal price for a 30 day supply of the Metoprolol 100mg ER is approximately $45, so you were getting a significant savings if you were only paying $18 for a 90 day supply.
