Methylprednisolone 500mg
Updatedmy sons MRI scan has shown inflamation/swelling of the lining of his spinal cord near his neck. he is seeing a neurologist as his hands and feet have been numb and tingling, sometimes feeling as heavy as lead, and hard to lift. has anyone had this problem, and what was the outcome/diagnosis please.

with ref to the above. My son has now been prescribed 500mg of methylprednisolone, which I think is a steroid/anti inflamatory? They dont seem to know what the cause is. say 101 pos reasons...is there a way of being more specific in finding the cause? Any comments gratefully received. CM
Hi Churchmouse,
My mom has actually recently been diagnosed with something similar to what your son has been experiencing in his neck. The spinal column in my moms neck is actually pinching her nerves so that her hands have become numb and also her lower extremities are starting to reach that point as well. It has become so severe that they are going to have to use surgery via the anterior side of the neck to fix the problem. At first it was thought to be carpel tunnel, but it's much more than that at this point. I believe she is dealing with what's called cervical myelopathy.
I can only assume that what your son is dealing with just as severe as what my mom is dealing with, but I think you are taking all the right steps based on your description. I would however suggest doing more research on the topic of myelopathy and seeing if it sounds like a probable cause.
I hope this helps shed some light on the topic if anything. I'll be sure to post back when I find out more details myself.
Hi I was wondering if your son got a diagnosis with his symptoms as my husband is actually got the same symptoms and MRI scan results showing inflammation on his spinal cord and brain and been prescribed 500mg of Methylprendisolone also. Any info with a possible diagnosis greatly received xx
