I took the six pills on my first day's dose all at once as I believe I was directed to do. However, this is day two and I didn't read the instructions and took all five of day two with breakfast. I am taking this because I have a lymph tumor on my parathyroid gland and trigeminal neuralgia that has been giving me acute pain in my face and mouth. My primary put me on the Methylprednisolone steroid and Gabapentin. I hope that this isn't going to cause me problems since I need to be alert and work. ## Yes, as the other posters have stated, there is no issue here. You can actually take them all, all at once, each day, if needed. Some people do, in order to make sure they don't accidentally miss a dose. I've done it, when I was on one due to an allergic reaction and had a...
5 REPLIES UpdatedYou're supposed to take the first two tablets of Methylprednisolone before breakfast. My question is how long do I have to wait to eat breakfast after I take the medicine? ## You probably don't need to wait long to eat breakfast after taking your first dose. Maybe 15-30 minutes tops if you're concerned about absorption (as the medication has a peak concentration about 2 hours after ingesting it). Actually, according to Medline Plus, Methylprednisolone may cause an upset stomach and you should take it with food or milk. Why take it before breakfast? Taking medication at the same time every day, such as before breakfast, can establish a routine, making it easier to remember and ensuring consistent dosing. Also, Cortisol, a naturally occurring steroid hormone produced by the ad...

40 REPLIES UpdatedI am starting methylprednisolone this morning, I'm also on losartan for hypertension. How long should I wait after taking the steroid to take my losartan? ## There's no real specific time you need to wait, but you should be aware that Methylprednisolone can cause elevated blood pressure, and elevated heart rate as side effects, along with acne, irritability, nausea, and mood changes, according to FDA reports. 1 REPLY UpdatedShould I eat something before I take my Methylprednisolone at bedtime? ## That's probably a good idea - The dietary instructions for this drug say: "Methylprednisolone may cause an upset stomach. Take methylprednisolone with food or milk." Hope this helps and best wishes! Source: Medline Plus
1 REPLY UpdatedI had a burning skin sensation that turned into a sore throat. I was prescribed the 4mg pack and antibiotic. After day 1 I had excess energy bordering on anxiety and insomnia. I suffer from anxiety and take Lexapro. I called the hospital center where I got the med and the doctor said the symptoms should lessen each day and if they got worse that it would be ok since this is a fairly low dose. Now I am confused as I hear horrible things about stopping. ## How are you doing? Did you quit the pack early? I am surprised that the Dr prescribed this to you, since one of the side effects is anxiety. I went to the ER, on my fifth day, with a severe anxiety attack, and I have no history with anxiety. I stopped taking them with two pills left. I am now two weeks past my last dose, and I am still ...
3 REPLIES UpdatedHi I'm deb, I have been prescribed methylprednisone 4mg for plantar fasciitis in my foot.. take 5 then 4,3,2,then 1 . I've been on methadon 28yrs, I'm afraid to start this if it's going to cause withdrawals any good feedback ? All I here are bad ones ## I had the worst experience imaginable with the dose pack. It was prescribed to be for headaches caused by whiplash from being rear-ended. Now, 7 1/2 long months later, I am finally getting back to normal. It took almost three months for my heart rate and blood pressure to normalize, 5 months for the nausea, dizziness and depression to go away, but I'm still dealing with anxiety. On top of that, I became extremely sensitive to food and/or food additives, and couldn't eat anything except meat, potatoes, rice, eggs a...
3 REPLIES UpdatedI ended up at the ER thinking I was having a heart attack. So I didn't take the last two pills of my dose pack. It has now been a full week after my last dose, and I am still struggling with insomnia, nausea, dizziness, muscle weakness, loss of appetite, heart pounding and high bp. I feel better in the evenings, but then it starts over in the mornings. Does anyone know how much longer these side effects will last? Does anyone have a similar story? ## Has anyone else have this problem with lingering side effects? Can you share how long? ## Hi Fed Up - I have had almost the exact symptoms as you except I also had insomnia while taking the pack. (Almost no sleep for 3-4 days.) I finished it though. I had my last one 3 days ago and since then I have gotten a bit more sleep, but now have...
36 REPLIES UpdatedI have Child Protective Services involved im my life due to my ex-husband who fired a firearm and shot my live-in boyfriend with my 11 year old son present! Therefore, I get random swab drug screens for drugs & alcohol. However, my ex does not!???!! I have lost all due respect for our system... Staying clean but want to try the garcinia diet pill without any false positives to deal with thru CPS! ## I get an etg alcohol swab. I have heard that this test is so sensitive that it can't determine between exposure & comsumption. Again, CPS is involved in my life & I haven't drank in months. It is imparative that this test is accurate! I don't understand why my ex doesn't have to endure this treatment when he is the one with the smoking gun in his hand with our son...
4 REPLIES UpdatedI started the Methylprednisolone dose pack for sciatica yesterday and my blood pressure was 98/78 and pulse 89. Today my blood pressure was 121/98 and pulse 109. ## That is normal, Methylprednisolone is a steroid class medication and it is well know to cause elevated blood pressure and heart rate as side effects, according to FDA reports, you may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache, weight changes, and acne. How are you doing, now? Has there been any change?
1 REPLY UpdatedI took Methylpredinisolone 4mg pak for 6 days, like 2 days later my headaches are so bad and its all day, yesterday headaches were all day and today same thing. took advil help a little bit.... first I thought it was my sinuses but now I just think its the after effects of stopping the medication?? is this common??? ## Hello, ETAZ01! How are you? I'm sorry about the headaches. Yes, it is possible. The FDA classifies Methylprednisolone as a steroid class medication, so it can cause that, as well as nausea, dizziness, insomnia and elevated blood pressure. It may even be a combination of both having taking the medication and your sinuses. The antibiotic can also cause headaches, in some people that take it. How many more days of it do you have to take? Other antibiotic side effects may...
7 REPLIES UpdatedThis is my second day on this drug and it was wonderful the next day after taking it. Took it for awful pain just below my neck and pain in lower back. Horrible for RA. Second day pain came back in lower back. Hurts, so is it not working now and is this unusual? ## Hello, Jo! How are you? Methylprednisolone is not an analgesic. It is classified by the FDA as a steroid, so while it may relieve pain a little, because it can help relieve inflammation, it will not alleviate all of it and it can cause some serous side effects. Typical side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, fluid retention, elevated heart rate, elevated blood pressure and weight gain. Was this medication prescribed by your doctor? ## Yes it was prescribed by Dr. And after presidone dident wor well he put me on ...

I am experiencing headache what can I take to help relieve this. ## As long as your doctor approves, you should be able to take Acetaminophen (Tylenol), but you should check with them, first. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness and headache. 3 REPLIES UpdatedI’m taking the 21 tablet, 6 day pack of methylprednisolone. I’m wondering when is the medicine at it’s highest level of potency during the 6 day (or after) period? I’m taking this to have oral serger because the nerve would not numb for a root canal. Apparently I have what is referred to as “angry nerve?” I was asked to start the Rx 3 days prior to surgery (6 pils the first day and decreasing one a day till gone). Today is my appointment for the root canal and I’ll be taking 3 pills (one prior to appointment). I guess I’m just wondering if the drug is still as strong in my system having taken only one before surgery? ## This is a steroid class medication, so it will not alleviate an infection, or pain, it is used to reduce the inflammation...
2 REPLIES UpdatedI have some white and red patches on my tongue. Doctor prescribed me Methylprednisolone 4mg and first day should take 6 tablets and i should gradually decrease one tablet. I started taking this medicine and i took it for one day and next day one tablet, i am felling so depressed and i am feeling tensed and little heavy heart beat than usual. I have been reading this stuff from others, I have to tell you this scares me to death..she is a young mother of 2 who has had constant sinus infections, had surgery on her sinuses and infection comes right back again. She has lost her sense of smell, her business has had to shut down. I am concerned, I want her to get better but at what expense. Is there any other alternative to this craziness? ## I am very sorry about what she has been going through. My husband has dealt with similar issues, and just had to have sinus surgery, yesterday and we are hoping it resolves his issues. What type of sinus surgery was done on your daughter? Have they given her any antibiotics? Methylprednisolone will not treat an infe...
2 REPLIES UpdatedI went to the ER on Christmas due to an unknown allergic reaction to some sort of food I ate. After all was said and done, I was given a prescription for a 4mg Medrol dose pack, one for benadryl and one for zantac (explained to me as a catalyst for the other two medications). I continued dosage as instructed through the third day. The fourth day, I took the before breakfast dose and none others. The entire time on the medrol, I had EXTREME (6 bottles of water in 2 hours) thirst, woke up several times a night to urinate, elevated bp and heart rate. I was anxious, wired, my chest was tight, my face was burning red, I was sweating significantly more than normal, and my personality was gone. I said maybe 20 words total the days I was on it, and my brain felt empty. It was very hard to conce...

3 REPLIES UpdatedI was given the 4mg 5 day dose pack of methylprednisolone for an allergic reaction that caused swelling of my lips and front part of my jaw. Will there be any withdrawal side effects once I have completed my prescribed dosage? ## Hello, Riya! How are you? The FDA classifies this medication as a steroid and no, there shouldn't be any, if you take it as prescribed. However, some of its side effects may still linger for a week or so, after finishing it. So you may still experience headache, insomnia, nervousness and elevated blood pressure. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I took methylprednisolne for 7 days... now hives are back in my eyes and face a day later. Should I be put back on it or is that normal? ## After taking 6mg tabs per day for 15 days with my allergy controll...
