I have vyvanse 10 mg from the last time he was taking those. My question is can he take vyvanse until his appointment date? Is vyvanse similar or not? I don't know about this type of medication much ....but I don't think it's good just to stop it because the "clinic" has failed too many times to do their job! I know we can go to ER, but this medication needs prior authorization and last time I did that, I got a prescription but the doctors at ER were too busy to do the prior authorization so in the end I couldn't get any...

They are similar medications that are used to treat the same conditions, but I would not advise trying to self-medicate a child. You should never give a child any medication that has not been approved by their doctor.

Have you talked to the clinic about the issue of him running out of medications?

There is a risk of withdrawal, if he runs out of Methylphenidate, withdrawal symptoms may include nausea, seizures, rebound depression, and irritability.
