UpdatedI live in southwest Florida and I have not been able to get my Rx in over a month now! I'm frustrated. Is anyone else having this problem? Thanks for your feedback! P.S. I take 20mg x 3 daily IR.

When this occurs towards the end of a year, and into the beginning of the next, it is usually due to manufacturing production limits of controlled substances. Each manufacturer is allowed a set amount that they can manufacture each year. These amounts are set according to sales, and demand from the previous year. This was done to help keep better track of the supply of these substances, and to try to prevent theft, and diversion.
Unfortunately, most years, using figures from the prior year does not always meet the demand for the new year, and shortages occur. A company can request special permission to manufacture more, but there is a process they must follow to gain that permission, and as with anything government related, the pace at which these decisions are made does not meet the time frame we'd prefer. At the beginning of the new year, they may have to stop production, until they receive their new allotment figures.
I've been a medical information consultant, and researcher for about 20 odd years, and I can't remember a year that there hasn't been shortages.
