Methadone To Morphine Er Help

I have been taking 10mg Methadone tabs every morning for about 20 days. My question is... I wanted off of them before my body became dependent, so yesterday morning I took 10mg, and about 4 hours later took a 15mg extended release morphine. Felt pretty normal. This morning, no Methadone but took the morphine. I want to know if I'm going to experience any kind of withdrawal symptoms? If so, I know that it has a very long half life, when will symptoms start? I have 6 Methadone tablets left. I know I'm not on a high dose for a long time like some others. I feel for them. I have been taking opiates half my life! Please, any answer will help, as well as any advice. I have 3 weeks of Morphine left. (15mg tabs at one a day.) I thank you so much. God Bless.

Yes, you may still experience some withdrawal symptoms, Methadone tends to have a very long half-life, so it may take a few days for them to manifest. According to NIH reports, it could take as long as 15 days.

The FDA warns that both of these medications carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation.

It really depends on you and your body, because we are all different. There have been people who never experienced any withdrawal symptoms, while others have experienced all of them within a few hours of stopping it.

Hi and thanks for your reply. I took my last methadone 4 days ago. I am so weak and sleeping all day with nausea. I've slept all day n night for 3 days now. I'm unable to eat anything except a cup of yogurt around 2pm. I can't believe I only took the methadone for maybe 12 days and it's having this effect on me. I'm done with opiates...I hope I'm strong enough to quit for good. Are these symptoms normal? Runny nose cold chills, hot flashes and sleeping so much. I'm so tired of this. Thank you.
