Methadone Take Home Prescription

I have been on methadone for about 10 yrs. I hate how people treat you, the stigma, but the workers and so called nurses should treat you with some level of respect and not a junkie. I have been in recovery for years and I am so sick of being treated like someone who is the one trying to get away with certain behaviors because I am on methadone. I have had take homes which were taken from me because they said I had a call back,they had the wrong # in their system and it was my fault ,then they said i had 1 month suspension because of this.Well over a month still did not get them back.Then they said I was going to lose them any way because I did not validate a form from a doctors appointment I had.Now the doctor I have knows I am on methadone because I had to inform him so I would not loose my take homes I which they took from me anyway. I don't know what to do to get them back.it is like you stay clean do what you have to do and it does not make a difference,i worked so hard for myself and me staying clean getting all the take homes meant so much to me.Now because I am in recovery and they know you need their service they can treat you how they want because without them you will be very sick.Every time I want to see what is going on with this they said call later or the director is not in or they don't know when they will be back call tomorrow.I feel like the one who is losing all over again.

Hello, Jessica! I am very sorry about what you're going through and the way you are being made to feel.

Unfortunately, when it comes to take homes for Methadone, and other treatment aspects, it is out of their hands, it is governed by federal law. There are some details available on the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration website.

I know that doesn't help your situation, or make you feel any better, I'm just letting you know that their hands are tied.

Have things changed, at all, yet?

Hi Jessica, I'm in Australia I really feel sorry for you,it's the same here prescribers think they're gods ect, I'm in my 60s had to go on methadone back in 70s wild days ! after coming off I swore I would never go back on again. Unfortunatley had horse accident stuffed my neck find it hard walking some days, trouble is I'm getting the worse constipation seems worse now I'm older, thinking seriously about coming down I'm on 60 mg do you think dropping 10 mg a week till I get to about 30mg be ok or too much I will probably stay on about 30mg hopefully that will be a safety blanket for me ,I don't feel 60mg anyway but helps with my pain,,,one thing IV learnt from different prescribers they always win no point trying to reason with them,they seem to think there god's and we are crap ,IV met some great people over the years they just couldn't handle this crazy world please take care your not alone ,and just because your not like everybody else means your more sensible to crap.
