Methadone Outpatient Treatment

My son recently applied for Medicaid and goes to a methadone clinic in Birmingham Alabama, but was told he was not eligible. He also goes to a clinic for mental treatment. The worker and her supervisor claim they know nothing about this program! I know many people who are on Medicaid for this problem. Could someone please explain to me what kind of form or application is needed for this program? My son desperately needs help and struggles to pay for this medication.

Hi, sorry to hear this. First call the methadone clinic u went to and ask what kind of insurance they take, like priority partners, but not the one u have. So if this is the case call medicaid and switch. Explain that u got this mainly for this reason to cover a clinic. Hope this helps. God bless. I suggest detoxing down on methadone after 3 years. Don't stay on past 5 years. I've been on it for 12 years and it controls my life but did help me function in society as a recovering addict.

Each Methadone clinic is allowed to accept, or deny, whatever insurance plan they choose to work with, or not work with. In many cases, it depends on the compensation involved, what that insurance will, or will not pay them for, since it can vary from one to the other.

The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth.

Some of them always require you to pay personally, there are only a few that accept insurance coverage.
