Methadone False Positive Uds Fentanyl

I'm on methadone and I had a random uds and it came back saying it's positive for fentanyl. I had fentanyl in a hospital about 25 years ago and that was it. I have been clean for 3 years. What would cause my uds to test positive for fentanyl?

My name is Jewel. I've been clean for 5 years. I have been on The methadone clinic for 5 years. My clinic started testing for Fentenyal 3 months ago. I have been coming up positive every time the clinic tests me. I do not use Fentenyal or ANY other drugs. It's very frustrating, i don't know what is causing this.

This is now happing to me ithe last time i used anything was almost 4 weeks ago..i go to a methadone clinic since 2014 and my probation tests me also and for the last month I'm coming up positive for fentanyl 4 for 5 times now I'm probably going to end up going to jail and I don't know what to do I certainly don't want to go to jail for something I definitely didn't do

The exact same thing happened to me today... Again I am a patient at a methadone clinic and they started testing for fentanyl this past September well since they started testing for fentanyl I have now come back positive for fentanyl every month since September. I have never taken fentanyl except when I was pregnant 4 years ago and I have never touched it since please help I don't know what to do there looking at me like I'm a liar I just took another UA today and they're telling me that I just must be doing Fentanyl. I do not take the drug I don't have access to the drug and I have been clean for months and months and they continuously tell me I am coming up dirty for fentanyl at my methadone clinic and I don't know who else to talk to. So you're not the only one and I don't know what to do myself if anyone has any suggestions please reply to this

I am so glad (yet worried) to know I am not alone. I have been on a Methadone clinic for 3 years and have been 100% sober for 3 years. My latest test came up Fentanyl positive but there is no way I had any exposure to it. The medications I take besides 90 mg/day methadone oral solution is 100 mg Strattera, 30 mg buspar, microgestin (birth control pill) and trazodone 50 mg as needed. Right before the test, I took cystex (an OTC medicine for UTIs) and an OTC chest congestion medication with dextromethorphan in it. My test came back positive for 2.0 ng Fentanyl, but nothing for Heroin or any other drug. I lost some of my take-home privileges over it, and it will take 6 months to get it back. My counsellor doesn't believe me because it is in the test. These are brand new tests. I was supposed to sign for the test and didn't because the counsellor didn't ask me to and i didnt know i had to- again its a brand new test. I am perplexed to why this happened. It also happened to another person at my clinic this past month too. My only recourse is to file a grievance, but I feel the cards are stacked against me because there is no solid medical journals about fentanyl false positives. I can't imagine each person here is lying about their use and I know I most definitely am not. Fentanyl is only detectable in urine supposedly 8-24 hours and i go to the clinic 1 time a week. Why would i be so dumb to use right before my 1 clinic day? Especially when i have years and years of clean tests. Honestly, if I knew I would pee dirty, I would have either not peed (less punishment) or told my counsellor. It is driving me crazy and I am going to get kicked off if this doesnt clear up soon.

I go to a methadone clinic and have been on the straight and narrow for the past 8 months. I have not taken anything besides my dose of methadone everyday... And things have been going so good till about a week ago..I tested positive for fentanyl...And honestly I have no clue why? I have not done anything besides what I'm spouse to be doing and a few advil here n there but that's it..I have not had anything else.. I wouldn't do anything else to jeopardize my time at the clinic. And the crazy thing is a lot of people at the clinic I go to is saying the same thing, they all test poz for fentanyl..it's always fentanyl and never anything else..I just wish I knew what would cause this to happen..but on a good note, all methadone clinics and labs have to hold all urine for at least 60days..and if you know for a fact that your test was not correct then u can pay to have it redone but with a different more extensive test..and so far everyone that has went that route has had good results. .and the poz test ended up being false. .so that's the road I'm taking and I can't wait.for it to come back nagative..so I can tell my counselor..I TOLD YOU SO! And I'll finally be able to get my take home's back ..it's been nothing but hell for me..seeing that I drive 4 hours a day for the clinic..2 hours there and 2 hours back..so loosing my take homes was devastating. Hopefully it all will be cleared up real soon..and for all of the others on here that have tested positive for fentanyl and you know it's not correct..tell your clinic you want to order an extensive confirmation test.. it's worth it in the end..good luck everyone.
