Methadone Availability In Phoenixville, Pa
UpdatedI currently take methadone for pain but my dosage just isn't cutting it anymore so i keep running out bc the doctor doesn't want to increase it, EVEN THO the label clearly says "if you feel your medication is not controlling your pain, your dose may need increased" due to a tolerance build up. I've been on pain pills for years and have taken a ton of different meds just to find ONE that actually WORKED! It took forever. My doc was retiring and me and his "colleague" did NOT get along, so i had to give a new doctor that would keep me on my current treatment. Well when i called new office and explained to them that i was currently taking 80mg Oxycontin 3x's a day, with 30mg Oxycodine for break thru. So they shrunken me an appt but flat out told me "there is no way we can prescribed you this much medication'. Obviously i begged n pleaded bc it WAS working for me, but think it was more of an addiction even tho I was taking it for real reasons. So i was down to about half if that when SURPRISE! I AM PREGNANT. NOW WHAT DO I DO??? Did research and spoke with obstetricians and neonatologists, they ALL advised me to absolutely NOT go cold Turkey bc it would pretty much guarantee a miscarriage from the stress. So i decided to listen to all the professionals i could (think it was 6 different ones) and went on the methadone. I was aka by a pain doctor before about methadone but all i knew about it was that they use it to treat opiate patients so i was guilty of judging a drug that i really didn't know. So making the decision to go on methadone BECAUSE i was pregnant was NO EASY DECISION.
I couldn't even talk about it anyone because i feared they would tell me how horrible I was or how much damage i was doing to the baby.... Basically all the horrible things "I" probably would've thought before educating myself on it. I was worried as hell not knowing if i had made the right choice or if i was hurting the baby, bc the one warning on methadone about pregnancy is that "your doctor will determine if the benefit outweighs the risks" which as a pregnant mom, that is NOT what you wanna hear! but i prayed the doctors knew what they were talking about. But even taking my regular doses i was withdrawaling!! Of course at first they thought i was just abusing my meds until i was finally admitted for profuse vomiting when they finally saw for themselves that i WAS withdrawaling, bc my pregnancy had sped up my metabolism of the drug so i wasn't getting enough in me to control my pain. Finally at hospital they came out with this huge orange syringe. APPARENTLY THEY HAVE LIQUID ORANGE METHADONE! WHO KNEW! Do i finally was able to keep it down. But anyway, so with that under control n did unfortunately have to increase my dose. Buy at the END of my pregnancy i was taking 20mg 3x's a day.. Good thing? My baby was healthy and still is, no withdrawal symptoms at birth, and i am now only on 3 10mg methadone a day, compared to before i was pregnant n taking 80mg Oxycontin plus 30mg Oxycodone 4-6x's day. I feel very grateful my baby was fine, but also since i did my research. Had i not i may not have known about methadone and may have done very horrible damage to my child and I'd probably still be on that insane amount of meds!
So if you cared enough to read my insanely long "novel", please take this with you: METHADONE IS NOT A BAD DRUG! It has worked wonders for me, gets me to take just 3 pills a day instead of popping pills all day, i take just enough to ease my pain so I'm never "messed up" or out-of-it plus if you don't have insurance it only costs like $30-40 for 90 with cash, but if you used one of those FREE DISCOUNT COUPON CARDS, then it's only like $14. So all you people telling all these people TRYING to get REAL ANSWERS at least just state FACTS, NOT your opinions or your bad trip that you took RECREATIONALLY, NOT legally, and know that JUST BECAUSE it sucked for YOU, that doesn't mean it won't be the miracle someone else has BEEN LOOKING FOR... but they didn't bc they read what you all wrote about while you were high and scared those people away from the medication that may have really helped some of them. Really upsets me how much of a bad reputation methadone gets. Ok so now my question is where can i get prescribed just a couple days worth when i run out early or someone steals some? Like now...
