Methadone And Cold Meds

I've been on methadone for 7 years now, I was at 160 mg and I am now at 60 mg and going down still. I only wish I knew the horrid side effects and other issues that came with this medication before I ever took the first dose! Detoxing is not bothering me thus far thank God but I'm going down real slow bc I want to not bc I have to or I've done anything wrong. I just wanna be clean n sober and lose the 30 pounds I gained and feel like me again. Reading everyone's posts I am terrified! I had bad RLS before I got on a MMT so I know that's gonna be horrid. I'm thankful for it in a way bc it got me out of the life I was barely living but I traded one demon for another and wish I had more knowledge before I started on this stuff! It's truly not something I would of done had I known then what I know now! Fair warning to anyone wanting to get on it, it's horrible, DO NOT DO IT! Go openly talk to a doctor and decide on another way!!! None the less I am on it for a few more months and I am incredibly sick! Low fever(100.2) and eyes pouring water, nose stuffy, actually whole head is congested n killing me, sore throat to the point even my ear canals hurt, n just feel horrid overall. What can I take that's safe? I bought Sudafed but found out I can't take it so if you know of anything that's safe and OTC please let me know!!! I would greatly appreciate it! I was thinking DayQuil maybe..I don't like anything night time bc I don't like feeling sleepy! Thanks again and good luck to all my recovering brothers and sisters out there! It's hard, but don't lose faith! You can do it!!

Have you consulted a doctor to determine what it causing your symptoms? Do you just have a cold, or is it due to withdrawal from the Methadone?

Even though it is a prescription medication, it can cause withdrawal effects just like illicit substances, and that can include symptoms like you've described, and if they are due to withdrawal, most over the counter sinus/cold remedies may not help much.

Methadone is notorious for causing severe withdrawal effects, even at lower doses, and many people who start MMT never truly become completely drug free, because they end up having to take a lifelong maintenance dose of the Methadone.
