I AM A METHADONE MAINTAINANCE PATIENT, CLEAN FROM OXYCONTIN FOR THREE+ YEARS & I HAE PACKED ON 40 POUNDS! I AM RETAINING WATER & EXPERIENCE HORRIBLE CONSTIPATION...ANYONE WITH SIMILAR ISSUES OR TIPS TO HELP ME OR FIND THE CAUSE???

Try vitadone or nutridone. I have heard reapeated posative results from thos wanting to lose the Mdone weight, constipation , sugar craving and need a libido. I am on mmt and don't have any weight problems but constipation , laziness fatigue and over sleep are my side effects I'm going to try it

You are correct!! One cannot starve themselves!! I have done the weight gain thing twice from opiates. 30 pounds both times. I'm there again now. I hate it. It's not the Methadone but the lifestyle. I get complacent. I feel better on my med so I slack off, watch more TV and crave sweets like mad. I lost it all before by changing my eating habits.

I eat 2 eggs for breakfast and snack on strawberries all day to raise blood sugar and eat broccoli every night and hv gained 60 pounds in 6 months, this is my 6th time on methadone and every time I get on it I work out for 2 hr a day and eat healthy hen when I stop methadone and switch to subs I lose 38pounds in three weeks! Why? Cz I'm full of h20 lol

Dear Kali, I was on methadone for years and I gained 50 pounds. That's one of the side effects of the methadone 4 a lot of people. I've seen others gain weight while going 2 the clinic. But, they usually don't tell u they. As I tapered down off the methadone, I started 2 lose the weight. Now I'm on suboxone and I'm right at my normal weight. But, I was amazed at the weight I gained on methadone. Went from a size 4 to a 12. Hope this info helps.

I have only been on methadone for six months, I went from 145 lbs to 190. I don't know why either but I look much better

very similar story as most. I went from 113 to 150 pounds in 8 months on methadone. The most i have ever weighed was 140 pounds and i was 9 months pregnant with a 9 pound baby. I have always been small build. I always hated that my legs and butt would not gain weight, but now they sure have, only thing i hate is looking pregnant and chubby cheeks. I'm starting to get depressed and also can't stop the junk food!!! I am wondering if it really is the methadone or can it all be from the life change and is my stomach getting big because it is actually the cake, donuts and other junk food that's causing me to gain weight in these other areas... I don't know what to do either, all i know is that if i get off this methadone then I will be stuck in another depressing rut, on drugs, no money and no kids :

I have been on methadone for two years now and I experience alot of swelling in my legs and ankles.I have also gained close to 100 pounds. Is there anything you can take to help with the weight gain and the swelling?

I am having the same problems and there is a product you can try called nutridone that's supposed to help with the side effects of methadone and also helps to balance your metabolism.

I know how you feel, ive been on it 12 years and all of a sudden im 39, single, depressed and fat. In 7 months ive gone from 110 mls to 20mls. Im determined and want my body back. But Mostly pain meds esp. methadone. Would love an answer too but you're not alone. Remember beauty starts with the inside & as a woman who took pride in my looks, tried to look my best, dated a lot, etc, it has taken a while to quit hating my looks. I loved to get weight off but tired of trying with No success. it's just not me on the outside. But my heart is the same. Hang in there all!

Im still looking for a methadone doctor or suboxone since my ddoctr kicked a whole bunch of us to the curb without adequate time to detox and nowhere to turn.Just doesnt care about anything but his new vip practice and money.I just found out that a woman in another state sued and got a lot of money.I just want pain relief and a secure Doctor to take care of my needs.any leads anyone

My wife and I both want to go on Suboxone or I think I would like Subutex since I am not an addict but was put on Methadone for chronic pain.My wife wsas on Suboxone and lost weight felt great after about 1&1/2 weeks..Is that about the norm.Does it help withbpain.I am on medicare and they will pay for doc and script with 90 copay but I read so may different versions of the transition and the pain help I dont know .Our Doc just put about 300 people searching for mmt some probably go to clinic I cant I am on zanax and cant shake that because of nerves and blood pressure.How can she get suboxone she had to go back on clinic because I am on disability and cant pay cash for it. can someone shed light on these questions and maybe an idea for my wife to get suboxone and get away from methadne.HEELLPP!!!!

kali, the best thing I have found to relieve constipation is 2 of the containers activia yogurt (im out of them today) I think the small container is approx. 4 to 6 oz eat 2 a day until you get regular them try going to 1 a day. give it a try it works better than anything I have found. & it's not going your "blow your ass up" like laxative does.

Im on 16 mls now, from 110. Canada is new to suboxone, doctors dont even know much. Should I keep weaning or go on suboxone? And is it true I have to get down to about 5mls first? I wanna fo it now, I've read on hrrr, ppl do it? How much and how many suboxone will I need?

Yes, it does. If you eat TOO little. Research it, ask any weight loss doctor or other specialist.
