Methadone / Help For Pain

I am on 58 mg of Methadone and I have been on it for a year. It does not help with pain for me, and I did this on my own to see if it would help me. I was taking 4 mg of Hydromorphone for pain before. Now I want off the Methadone but my doctor is telling me I have to go to a non opioid pain clinic for pain. What is that??? I need opioids to help with pain. What do I do??

Sorry to hear about the difficulties your experiencing. It's tragic when doctors prescribe potent pharmaceutical's such as hydromorphone and methadone then cut you loose. It sounds as if He wants you to see what's known as an interventional pain clinic where they utilize treatments to relief the pain rather then traditional opioids and opiates.Sadly it appears he no longer in comfortable prescribing these narcotics for you for what ever reason but he should have at least tapered you down so you don't experience severe Withdrawl syndrome.some people find relief in interventional treatments but most don't especially long term opiate containing rx users.. The only thing I can recomend is contacting the social service dept. at your local hospital and explain your situation they may be able to assist you with immediate Withdrawl issues you may encounter.
