I NEED TO KNOW WHERE IN MISSISSIPPI THERE IS A DOCTOR WHO PRESCRIBES METHADONE?
Re: Steve (# 34)

Re: Brett (# 35)
hey man, i feel ya, i just got off methadone after 13 years in preparation for the inevitable, being retired medical after working in over 100 hospitals nationwide, my experience is broad and i have made a point of keeping up with the 'legal' p.o.v., and quite frankly many of my doc associates are on board with the same view of the mississippi state board, one said, "the state board views people with chronic pain and depression 'as people with character flaws', and it shows all the way down, so finding a real doc is tough, having been treated in california, colorado and florida, i assumed wrong by moving home, and then i got lucky, he has maintained me for 7 yrs until the board 'voted' to take methadone off the state drug formulary making it illegal to prescribe, yet a jr college 'councilor' across the state line can give over 300 mg/day, go figger, HOWEVER...like the attempt the board made a few years ago to unilaterally shut down all state pain clinics, this has met with resistance, no doubt one of the board member's mother is taking methadone, you think i'm kiddin, anyway, as it stands at the end of january, 2018, it looks like i'll be able to resume my med within 30 days, as far as getting a doc to prescribe it in mississippi without a significant history of doctor prescribed use, forget it, and that's Any doc, no way, all they're allowed to prescribe cannot be more than 50 morphine milli-equivalents, a scale can be found online, an example would be =6 percocet, that's the max allowed but no one will get it, 3 a day tops and only for a while, new patients get a one week prescription, my doc has a few old timers like me but 90 percent of his patients are suboxone, sad really, he has an NP that treats guys like me, he's in Biloxi, his name is Dr. Joe Jackson, good luck to ya!
Re: Steve (# 34)
Steve my name is Brett. I have been on methadone for 16 yrs, because of 2 unsuccessful neck surgeries. My Dr retired in January and left me without a Dr. Workers comp sent me to this Dr that has cut me from 210 mg to 70 mg and wants me off it so he can put a pain pump in. Do you think these Drs in Tupelo can help me. I have an appointment with another Dr on the 29th of this month to see if he’ll help me. I know you didn’t want to put the Dr name on here, but if you would be kind enough to help me it would be greatly appreciated. {edited for privacy}. Thank you.
In Tupelo there is a group of IMS Drs. @ NMMC that prescribes me 150 mgs of methadone & 32 mgs of hydromorphone a day! Hope this helps and good luck because being a severe pain is the worst thing in the world! Sorry but I don't think I should call the doctor by name.
Where is a regular dr that prescribe methadone and a break thru pain medicine somewhere around mccomb mississippi
Where can I find a doctor in the Flowood Mississippi area that will prescribe methadone?

There are Methadone Clinics in Alabama.......google it............
I needed a script so bad I used to drive two hours to Jackson n 2 hours back every day to Hamilton Alabama. My mom talked me into leaving it alone. I was just exhausted all of the time. Little did I know I would be here. I just need to know how to approach them with this, but I almost died coming off 120 liquid to nothing. That put the fear of God in me to try living w/o it but I need my own med for pain.
Your comments are ridiculous...Methadone is one of the best pain medications on earth..I know because I take 130 mgs for the last 13 years & it saved my marriage & my life...Obviously you know nothing about it...Very very few doctors, just with one visit, are gonna write you a script for methadone....Go to a clinic in Memphis (BHG) or in another state if need be....Theres one in Jackson,Ms...thats it....The State of Mississippi needs to get off their asses & join the rest of the "world" & recognize the fact that methadone is a "good" thing...Lawmakers are so damn naive with their "bible-belt" attitude..............Get with it Mississippi...
Methadone isn't "just for addicts". What a ridiculous thing to say. Methadone has been around since at least WWII and is a highly effective and long lasting opioid pain medication unlike the typical 4 (maybe more if you're lucky) hours of pain relief that is associated with "normal" pain meds, methadone can provide relief for 8-10 hours. I go to a clinic in the Memphis area at the recommendation of my orthopedic surgeon who operated on my spinr. Because of all the new regulations and restrictions placed on the medical community, doctors are afraid to write prescriptions for large amounts of narcotic pain medicine for long periods of time (which is a necessity for those of us with severe chronic pain). That fear of the DEA and the lack of actual pain doctors/clinics who offer a whole approach to pain management (shots, blocks, physical therapy, and yes medication) leaves people who suffer from chronic pain with very few to no other options.
Your assertion that simply because someone is taking methadone and/or going to a clinic means they are an addict is truly asinine and idiotic and is the reason there is so much discrimination against pain patients. While yes, the clinics that do methadone management are primarily for those with addiction issues to assume that anyone and everyone who makes use of such a clinic is an addict is ignorant. I've seen people in wheelchairs and walkers come into the clinic because they have nowhere else to turn because of the stupidity of the "war on drugs" leaving most traditional routes unavailable.
Educate yourself about the subject before you speak of something you obviously know nothing about.
You definitely made enough reasons for you to just have to have them. With all that's wrong with you no MD would have ever stopped treating you with traditional opiates. Methadone is for addicts. So ask yourself, are you an
addict? Or are you really in pain and you were told by family members that you were truly addicted when you couldn't hides it any more. Dr dropped you because you were getting the best pain medication for all you describe but you ran out before the month was out. God please help thaws that you love and free them
