Methadone Doctor In Austin Tx

Can you please help me with a name of a doctor in Austin texas that prescribes methadone?

I'm sorry, but there is no such thing as a Methadone doctor. For pain, any doctor can technically prescribe, but many won't due to its severe habit forming potential.

If you require it for addiction treatment, then you'll have to go to a clinic, because it would be illegal for a regular doctor to prescribe it for that.

The FDA classifies this medication as an opiate, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

Can anyone recommend a good doctor in that area?

I used to be on Methadone and Vicodin, prescribed by a family doctor. I saw him for years until he merged with Austin pain associated, and they accused me of something I haven't done in umpteen years. Now I'm suffering. I don't expect all my old medications but need a referral because I'm suffering without methadone and have allergic reactions.

Oh my god doctors do prescribe Methadone it has one of the safest . It doesn't allow you to build up a tolerance like hydrocodone or oxycodone. How rediculous.

I dont know of any doctors that prescribe it other than the doctors at Methadone clinics. It is habit forming for those that have addiction issues someone needed to point out but it does have its value. The hype in my opinion is sending little old ladies out to the streets. The doctors can't predict who has pain and who doesn't. Its crazy but I so understand the overdose issues.
