Methadone: Belbucca For Withdrawals?

So I've been taking methadone for 8 months now. My peak dose was 70mg, but I've been weaning off of it for several weeks with the goal of getting off of it entirely. This past week, I dropped down to 5mg and my body went into full withdrawal.

I honestly think that the dose is so low that it's pretty much just waste that my body doesn't absorb. I called my clinic and asked if I could come in and switch to subutex. They told me that even though I'm only on 5mg, they won't take the risk of putting me on it until I've stopped taking it for three days even though I'm only on 5mg.

The withdrawals are terrible and it's like I'm not even taking anything. I thought that if you're in full withdrawal then it is safe to switch to subutex.

Anyway, when my family doctor and I were experimenting with alternative pain relief, he prescribed me Belbucca, which is buprenorphine tongue strips (like the Listerine strips) I never ended up taking them but these withdrawals are so bad that it's going to effect my performance at work and I can't have that.

I jad been on the 5mg of methadone for 4 days but haven't taken any for 36 hours.

Can I take these buprenorphine strips safely to help with the withdrawals?

Belbucca, or any medication that contains Buprenorphine and/or Naloxone, cannot be taken, until you are in full withdrawal, or there is a risk of your being thrown into dangerous precipitated withdrawals, according to FDA reports. That can create the risk of seizures, organ failure, and possibly fatal consequences.

The time frame can vary from person to person, but it is very risky to take it too soon.
