I just got my RX for metformin Hcl 500 mg. tablets. I am confused as to when is the best time of day for me to take it. Should I take it in the morning, or, at night before bed? Do I need to take it on an empty stomach, or, with food? ## Ideally, it should usually be taken in the morning, just before a meal, that way it has time to start working to help lower your blood sugar by the time your body starts digesting your meal. Learn more Metformin details here. Didn't your doctor or pharmacist provide any instructions? ## My Dr. said to take it in the morning, but, the printout that comes with prescriptions said to take with dinner. So, I was confused. It makes more since to take it in the A.M. Thanx for your input.

My husband started taking "diaformin XR" for half a month, one tablet twice a day before bed. But after taking this medication, he becomes sexual dysfunction. His blood sugar needs to take medication to be controlled, what other medication for type 2 diabetes does not have this sexual dysfunction side effects?? ## In this case, it's actually difficult to say, but it is actually more likely that the diabetes is causing it as that is very common in diabetic men. metformin has to be taken after food while voglibose, before food, a few minutes earlier. When this be so, how can both be taken together with meals? Is it not a waste of drugs, ineffectiveness of dosage administered and, loading the body more than what will be strictly necessary? 2. would it not be better to take the same separately, for more effectiveness?

i can not get my blood sugar below 9 ## Have you talked to your doctor? What types of foods do you eat and do you make sure to get proper exercise? There are other medications that can be added, such as alternative oral ones that may bring it down further, or the use of insulin injections, but only a doctor can help you decide what is right for you to use. However, your diet plays a huge role, you do have to closely watch what you eat, cutting out sweet foods and keeping it very low in fat. ## I reduced my A1C blood sugar numbers from 9.8 to 6.39 with diet. I am now reducing it further and losing weight too with a low carb diet .NO SUGAR, NO BREAD, NO PASTA, NO RICE, NO POTATOES, NO FRUIT EXCEPT BERRIES. For me, going low carb is the only thing that works.

what is teva metformin hcl tablets used for ## Hi mook, Metformin is an oral anti-diabetic drug in the biguanide class. It is used alone or with other medications, including insulin, to treat type 2 diabetes (condition in which the body does not use insulin normally and, therefore, cannot control the amount of sugar in the blood). Metformin helps to control the amount of glucose (sugar) in your blood. It decreases the amount of glucose you absorb from your food and the amount of glucose made by your liver. Metformin also increases your body's response to insulin, a natural substance that controls the amount of glucose in the blood. You can view a detailed description of the drug by clicking on the link below... I hope this helps!

Hi Round unmarket pill, susposed to be metformin by Actavis, but I thought all pills had identity markings on them ## Hi John, I don't know if this applies to where you are from, but U.S. law requires that all prescription drugs have unique letters or numbers (sometimes in addition to a logo of some kind) imprinted on the tablets or capsules so the medication can be identified by manufacturer, substance and dosage. As far as I know, there are quite a few "non-prescription" pills and supplement pills that aren't required to have an imprint. Is this something you ordered online or got without a prescription? That may explain a few things if you did. ## Hi David I'm in the UK and the pills were on prescription by my GP and were supplied by the practice pharmacy. I have ...
