Not entirely. While the dosage certainly adds up to 1000mg, there is still a big difference between immediate release formulas and extended (time-released) formulas.

The time-released tablets are more geared towards 24 hour - around the clock pain relief; while the standard immediate release tabs are said to be more ideal for short term pain management patients.

Whether you take 500mg or 1000mg of Metformin, the time-release effect will always outlast the immediate release effect in terms of longer pain relief (although some patients claim the immediate release formula to have a stronger effect, since it hits you all at once, per say).

Only if they are also time released, since you listed ER by the 1,000mg and that denotes it as being an extended release formulation.
