Metformin 93 72 14
UpdatedI take Metformin and recently the doctor prescribed in 500 mg doses. I now have pills with 93 on one side made by TEVA and I have a 1000 mg tab with 93 on one side and 72 14 on the other - who is the mfg of the 1000 mg tablet. I am not having the same results with the 500 mg that i had with the 1000 mg and it is believed the mfg may be the difference.

Sorry that is one I do not take, I do know mfg. makes aHUGE dif. in how it works, metabolises in organs, I seen this and just had a similar prob. with thyroid meds. Ask dr. change back, may be your body with that brand, fix it,be glad you noticed.:)
Actually, both of the tablets you have are manufactured by TEVA, the 93 is their former logo and TEVA is their new one, they have been gradually changing the logos on all their medications, so eventually the 1,000mg tablet will have the marking of TEVA 7214.
The actual problem here is that you've said you went from a higher dosage to a lower one! Anytime this happens, even if it's just because you no longer need the higher dosage, there is going to be a time period where your body has to adjust to the changes.
This can result in some rebound effects, such as elevated blood sugar levels, for a week or two, while your body readjusts to the new dosage.

I realize the dosage was reduwed on my pills but I am actually taking 2500 MG of Metformin anly in 500 mg doses through out the day. The differences appear in the A1C and the periods between the doses of insulin and metformin. Thnak you for the reply but i dont think that particular answer was relevant
The Metformin with 7214 on them do not work for me at all. Was taking Metformin with a G on the pill with great results. Was given 7214 pills and started experiencing severe pancreas and foot pain. Then I switched back to the G marked pills that I had leftover and fell much better within hours. Is the 7214 generic or could I have got a bad batch?.
The only thing I'd like to impress upon all users of Metformin or Glucophage is, make CERTAIN that it's made in the United States.
