Met Xl 50 - Telma 40

My husband is having problems with no for the past couple of months.. He has hypertension ranging from 170/110 to 150/90...he was given metoprolol 25 by the doc ..
But yesterday he started feeling very restless towards the evening and was sweating badly and there was uneasiness in the body ..
We went to the doc today and he has been diagnosed with perpetual hypertension and is advised the below medicines

Met XL 50- 2 times a day
Telma 40- 1 a day along with nerve up and gem cal etc...

Please advise if its ok to take such high doses at this stage... Ate there any side effects for the same..

All medications carry the risk of causing side effects, even over the counter products.

And yes, higher doses may be necessary for awhile to bring his blood pressure down as fast as possible. The dosages can be adjusted in the future, if needed.

Met XL contains the active ingredient Metoprolol, which is a beta blocker and it may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache and stomach pain.
