I've been prescribed 15mg of Meloxicam tablets and take it every morning after breakfast but I've run out. Can I take 2x 7.5mg tablets instead? Also, is there a difference between the capsules and tablets? ## Yes, you can double up on the others, unless your doctor instructs otherwise. The U.S. FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding, and stomach irritation. I am not aware of there being any difference. Is there anything else I can help with?

I take meloxicam , I have found that the effectiveness changes with manufacturer . Does anyone know which generic is the most like brand name Mobic? ## Meloxicam manufactured by Cipla USA is the absolute WORST. It has so many fillers it may as well be a placebo and does not relieve arthritis pain in any way. I find that the generic manufactured by Lupen Pharmaceuticals is the best out there. I have taken 15mg daily for several years and it has improved my mobility dramatically. Unfortunately, pharmacies change manufacturers frequently, so if you find that your current pharmacy stores one that does not work for you, either change pharmacies or have your doctor prescribe the name brand, if possible. ## Hi Carol, In conjunction with the helpful information in Rachel's post, I just want...

Knee problems from years of racquetball - miniscus are gone - doc prefers me do the Rball for heart health rather than knee replacement. (ME TOO!!!). Incredibly - Meloxicam (15 mg / day) has ZEROED the pain. The problem I have developed after about two months is leg cramps - usually calf muscles & usually during the night - a couple of times a week. Is there a fix for these leg cramps? ## According to the NIH, the most common cause of nighttime leg cramps is low potassium levels in the body, this medication has been known to cause dehydration in some people that take it, which could contribute to the problem. How much fluid do you take in each day? Do you eat any potassium rich foods, such as oranges or bananas? ## I drink 6 to 10 Gatorade G2 (smallest size) a week and eat bananas o...

I have been taking 15 mg of meloxicam for 3 weeks following surgery on my foot for joint pain and inflammation. It has been causing increasing stomach pain so today I decided not to continue with it. My intention was to not limit my mobility during therapy and my recovery period which could take several months to a year. What else could I take without the gastric upset? ## Hello, Fran! How are you? Did you try using an antacid and making sure not to take it on an empty stomach? These measures can usually help limit the gastric upset. Alternatively, you could speak to your doctor about trying something else, such as Tramadol, or Oxycodone, since they aren't as harsh on your stomach. The FDA warns, however, that they carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, su...

How often should i get a liver panel? I just started meloxicam, a few days ago wow miracle drug, I have tried many pain pills and all they did was give me a buzz but still had pain. I got a very bad side effect from Losartan. I got bilateral achelies, tendonitis. It has been horrible since I have to stand and walk 12 hours a day for work. This did take about 3 days for all my pain to go away. But I am very concerned about the side effects. Thanks ## Hello, Mark! How are you? Most doctors do them about every 3 months, at first, then if you're doing well, it will change to every 6, then yearly, as long as they feel you should continue taking it. Sooner, or more frequently, if you do encounter a problem. The FDA lists its other typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizzine...

I feel like it may have worked and then stopped which is so weird to me. Please help and I am open to suggestions. ## Hello, Jocelyn! How are you? I was wondering if I can take 1 15 mg in morning and later in day take half of another one..seems to be what helps the most?? ## Hello, Bradon! How are you? Due to the potential damage it can cause to the liver, the maximum daily dose of it is 15mgs. If it isn't helping enough at that dose, you should inform your prescriber, you may need to try a different medication. The FDA lists other side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and stomach irritation. Is there anything else I can help with?

I am prescribed 15mg of mobic daily I accidentally took another one today the first one was at 0800 am and then I messed up and took one at 6:15 pm. Should I be concerned and should I skip my dose in the morning. I have taking this pill for a few years. ## Hello, Rodney! How are you? Did you experience any adverse affects? You should always inform your doctor of such an occurrence, to be safe, though doing so once it's usually considered a major issue. It can, however, increase the amount and severity of the side effects that you experience, which as listed by the FDA, may include nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and stomach irritation. ## It's usually NOT considered a major issue. My apologies, I'm starting to hate my computer!

I have taken Indomethacine for chronic inflammation (possible spondylitis) for 3 weeks and it seemed to make the pain worse than while taking Advil. I switched to Meloxicam and have been taking it for a week. Again, no relief and perhaps it's even worse! Is it possible for these drugs to worsen the pain? How long does it generally take to get relief while taking these meds? ## Unfortunately, some people do experience the opposite of the intended effects from any given medication. It could be that you may need to explore other treatment options. The FDA lists other typical side effects as possibly including nausea, headache, stomach irritation and increased risk of bleeding. Have you only tried NSAIDs, so far?

Checking if OK to take these together: meloxicam 15 mg, naproxen 500 mg, and benedryl 25 mg ## No, you shouldn't take the Meloxicam and the Naproxen together, both of those are nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications, so it's basically doubling up on the same thing and is completely unnecessary. Additionally, they both increase blood thinning and taking them together heightens that effect, they also both increase serum potassium, which is also heightened by taking both and too much potassium building up in your body is very dangerous. The Meloxicam also increases your levels of the Naproxen… You can learn more Meloxicam details here and you can learn more Naproxen details here. I hope that is enough to give you the idea that combining them is a bad idea. :-)...

Hello, I am a new meloxicam user - pinched torn meniscus and knee arthritis. I felt pain relief the first day I took it - yippee. Knee replacement has been suggested but since I feel a huge improvement on the med (no to little pain, no limp, can bend without pain) thinking I can postpone surgery. Can you tell me an estimate of long I can expect benefit from 15 mg 1 per day? ## Hello, Anna! How are you? There is really no definitive time frame I can give you. The time period that a medication remains effective can vary from person to person. One person may be able to take the same dose for years, with good results, while someone else finds it only helps them for a few months. Hydrocodone is stronger, since is classified by the FDA as being a narcotic analgesic, which has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Meloxicam, however, is just a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and stomach irritation. I severely damaged my lower back this morning. I have had back pain for some years now. I went and saw my Dr today who prescribed me Endone and Meloxicam 15mg, my Dr is aware that i suffer stomach pain when i take anti inflammatory medication. He did advise me that these tablets are okay to take. I am unsure what to do as I do have stomach ulcers, and I need the inflammation in my back to go away. ## Hello, Debbie! How are you? Meloxicam is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory, so it can cause stomach irritation and ulceration, as reported by the FDA. You may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache and increased risk of bleeding. Thus, it may be best to take it with an antacid to protect your stomach, if your doctor approves of your doing so.
