Meloxicam Still Effective
UpdatedMy Meloxicam expired 2 year's ago. I work in a pharmacy and know how to store it, so my question is can I take it again? I've been having issues with my elbow and ibuprofen isn't helping. Thank you

Hello, Lisa! How are you?
It does not become dangerous, once expired, but medications do slowly lose effectiveness over time. More so, if they are exposed to the elements that cause degradation, such as heat, light and moisture. Your doctor may okay you taking it, even though it's expired, but ideally it would be best to obtain a new prescription.
The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and stomach irritation.
Have you had your elbow checked out? That would be the best thing to do, so you can discover what's causing the problem.
