It’s usually okay to have a small amount of alcohol while taking meloxicam, but there are a couple things to keep in mind.

Meloxicam is an NSAID, kind of like a stronger version of ibuprofen. Both meloxicam and alcohol can irritate your stomach. When you mix them, the chance of things like stomach pain, heartburn, or even stomach bleeding goes up — especially if you drink a lot.

For most people, having one glass of wine, and sometimes two, is probably fine as long as:

- They don’t have a history of stomach ulcers or bleeding

- They aren’t taking other meds that irritate the stomach

- They drink with food

- They stick to small amounts

If you ever notice black stools, severe stomach pain, vomiting blood, dizziness, or anything that feels “not normal,” you should get medical help right away.

If you want to be extra safe, maybe keep it to one drink or skip alcohol on days when your stomach feels off.
