Medrol Dosage Question

I was prescribed Medrol by a pulmonologist today. Instead of a dose pack I was prescribed 20 loose 4 mg tablets. The instructions say to take 4 tablets daily for 5 days. Can this be right?? In the past I've always been prescribed dose packs that decrease the dosage daily? Please advise.

While dose packs are sometimes still prescribed, it's been found that short-term use of some steroids, doesn't require tapering. It depends on which one it is, the dosage and how long someone will be taking it. If you are concerned, please double check with your doctor or pharmacist, before taking them.

The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, nervousness, acne and insomnia.
