Medicaid/fentanyl Patch 100mcg
UpdatedHow is it all of the sudden I am told 4 days before my due date for 15 Fentanyl patches (100 mcg 1 patch every 2 days) will not be filled because Medicaid doesn't wan't to pay for it? I heard this started in 2012 yet they have been paying for it! It's February 2013 so why the all the sudden very very short notice? This is in Indiana.I also get Flexiril.Thank you in advance.

I am sorry that you are having such a problem, but I don't have an answer for you.
This website specializes in information on medications, their uses and side effects, but nothing to do with coverage of insurance and etc.
Do you have a case worker or someone that you can call to ask about it?
They'd be the best person to consult in such a matter as I am sure they are much more informed of any changes.
Are they being prescribed by a regular doctor, or a pain management specialist?
If it's a regular doctor, that may also be contributing to the problem.
It could also be due to the use of them every 2 days, since they are usually used for 3 days.
I imagine that Medicaid isn't paying because you use 1 patch every 48 hours; the fentanyl patch is normally worn for 72 hours. You're exceeding the maximum FDA-recommended dose - that's likely the reason that Medicaid isn't paying for your claim.
Hmmm thats awfully odd. They paid for that dose for well over a year prior. So, that cannot be it. But thanx for your comment though. :)
Medicaid has paid for them since 2000. 13 yrs now. Of that 13 yrs, they paid for 1 patch every 2 days for a year and a half. It has been a number of different Doctors and right now, it's a specialist for the last year and a half. They want me on ORAL at very very very high doses (Medicaid does). I just learned the bulls*** reason today. Too much to type. It's absurd and I'm not the only one it's happening to. It will be fixed and either back to normal in no time. What they have me on right now scares me way more than the patches ever did (not to mention the side effects) where I simply would rather just deal with the pain and just take my hydrocodone as my "main" pain controller and try to live with it best I can. I cannot be all out of my mind, slurring and drooling and feeling warm soft needles (oxymoron I know@ warm soft needles) all over my body all day. I got things I have to do and violenting vomiting isnt one of them.Besides, meds wont work when you puke em up.
I do appreciate ANY and everyones time to comment back to me. That's kind of u.
Godspeed to you all
