Manufacturer guidelines note the following...
The usual adult dosage is:
Acetaminophen (300mg-1000mg) 4x daily for a maximum dose of 4000mg within a 24 hour period.
Codeine Phosphate (15mg-60mg) 4x daily for a maximum of 360mg within a 24 hour period.
Doses may be repeated up to every 4 hours.
The prescriber must determine the number of tablets per dose, and the maximum number of tablets per 24 hours based upon the above dosage guidance. This information should be conveyed in the prescription.
NOTE: Keep in mind that high doses of either of these are considered to be toxic.
Acetaminophen: toxic dose 10 g
Codeine: toxic dose 240 mg
