Maxeran
UpdatedThis drug was taken off the market for the serious permanet side effects of tardive dysknesia in Canada. Oddly enough, there is a clinic in Calgary that has a pharmacy MAKE this medicaton for them, encourages patients to use it, even if the patients are worried as to the saftey of this drug. They even go so far as to tell patients they wont get any side effects. How are they able to do this if the drug has been pulled. Please tell me if you know how this is allowed.

I am not familiar with all the Canadian laws, but I know in the U.S. they can do that if a doctor deems the medication or a different dosage to be medically necessary.
The ingredient or ingredients still have to be available in some form, or they wouldn't be able to have any pharmacy compound it for their patients.
Maxeran contains the active ingredient Metolopramide, therefore it doesn't have to be anything specially compounded, just ordered as a generic, because it hasn't been completely pulled from the market in the U.S. or Canada, from what I am finding, it was just changed to the category of short-term use ONLY. Which means 4 to 12 weeks, depending on the condition and secerity of the condition being treated.
