Hi Karen,
Does your husband work on the computer frequently? This is a common cause for pain and swelling in the hands, so I thought I'd ask.
Interestingly enough though, I just checked the side effects of Metanx and common side effects include:
Drowsiness; feeling of swelling of the entire body; mild diarrhea; numbness or tingling.
That said, it could in-fact be that Metanx is causing those complications. Has he sought out any treatment options or decreased his use of the medication?
