Mandated Oxycodone Withdrawl (Top voted first)
UpdatedI must of posted my problem somewhere else on this site, sorry but I can not think straight. For 6 years I have taken oxy's for RSD. Something I never heard of in my life until after 4 surgeries, including titanium cage, in a period of less than 2 years I developed firery burning sensation in right thigh. The edema made my legs look like tree trunks. Nothing could touch that leg. Being a female I was able to switch to wearing skirts and sleeping with blankets held up with a contraption. No matter how much Vicodin or hydrcodone I was given nothing touched the pain. When, for those of you who can remember, I became like Linda Blair in the Exorcist, screaming I was on fire and feeling like my head was spinning around. I was taken to psychotherapist ( Dr's who study pain for additional years of schooling). After MRI, CAT Scans, nerve conduction and nerve blocks I was diagnosed with Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy. It was first mentioned in medical works after the civil war. It is a vicious circle. Your brain signals you that you are in pain, probably some nerves were cut or disturbed during one of the surgeries. You try to get rid if the pain unsuccessfully, so your brain thinks you are not catching on! It increases and continues to increase the pain. I was put on oxy's, 3 large green 80's and 4 light blue 30's for a total of 360 mg daily. Soon I was up and around and best of all no pain. Then TN decided they would start a "War on Oxy's". I was weaned very slowly until the end of last year. Suddenly I was down to 210 mg. 2 80's that are suppose to work 12 hours but work at most 7 hours on me and 1 1/2 30mgs. This is a large drop from the 330mg I was just on 3 weeks ago. Now my eyes stream water, I yawn until my jaws hurt, I feel like I have restless legs in my entire body and worse of all the pain is escalating! The new law will only allow my Dr to Rx 90mgs, tops. It has made all our pharmacies scared. I have been getting my oxy's from the same place for 6 years and they now have to put in a special request to have as much medication as I need on hand! The finished bill on prescribing oxy's to cancer and hospice Pts is to go in effect at the end of this month. My Dr is unsure what will happen to me at that time. I can not drop from 210 to 90 mgs that will probably do me in. Meanwhile as I stated in my other post H use has greatly increased as it can be purchased for the price of a happy meal. Every pill I have ask about such as tramadol,etc.. have been added to this bill in TN. Should I plan on a inpatient withdraw program or move? Who is to say where ever we move they won't pass the same bill? Currently monthly premiums on me and my husband, who is never ill, run 903.00 a month. I followed every rule, took every diagnostic, and because a few people want to feel euphoric, I don't get to feel normal! I think they should let them have their fun, to preserve the ability to provide the medication for those of us who are in a world if pain! Should anyone be interested in looking up RSD or CRPS on -line what might strike you are the suicide line on the front pages. People in unremitting pain do what it takes to make it all stop. So sad when there is help for this.

I'm replying to my self! I have been contacted by my pain Dr. to come in in the AM. We are discussing my options, going to the "2nd" tier of oxy prescriptions with a max of 200mg. Before I am "accepted" I must take a battery of diagnostics including psychiatrist reports. If accepted I will go to a hospital for my oxy prescriptions. My other choice is inpatient withdrawl and possible pump. Should anyone ever read this before tomorrow, whats your opinion on pain pumps?
I am very sorry about what you're going through, that's terrible. No one should have to suffer.
The pain pumps work very well for many people and since you aren't in control of it, but rather your doctor, it is harder for someone to abuse such, so your dose can more easily be adjusted by your doctor, as needed.
What happened at your appointment?
This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
I'm not familiar with any state bills like that. I know there is nothing in federal law. Could you please get the reference number in Tennessee State Law or the House or Senate Bill number if this hasn't been passed yet ? I've interested in reading it.
I am on my phone which does not have all the information my computer does. I believe it is HB1264. I got a message, yesterday, from my Nashville Bill Watchers, it was pulled at last minute to add additional (redundant ?) practices, podiatry and optimologist. The bill references back to the original bill passed Oct of 2013. It is felt in order to tweak the entire bill to everybody's liking that it will not pass until July 2014. When at my computer I will try to confirm that is the bill. On plane, off phone.
It went as I described in response to myself. I was given, one Dr, one clinic and one (Humana) clinic affiliated with a hospital to see if they have an opening for me. My pain Dr will have to make a referral, I need current CAT Scan/ MRI and psychologist report to be considered for an appointment. I see in my letter above I spelled the study of pain Dr wrong and got my dosage wrong it was 390mgs. I was given a booklet on the pump. I run out of my medications on the 23rd because pharmacy doesn't "stock ahead" that makes zero sense. That would be like taking in a grocery list, dropping it off, and waiting for a call when they got all the food items in?!? As far as the inpatient withdrawl there is currently a waiting list and, as it was explained to me, I didn't really fall into the most needy category for withdrawl as I am not an abuser, not affected family dynamics, I would not need half way house, group therapy or NA. All I need is to be off medication without much suffering. A medication I was told until something better comes along would be my way of life. It took a long time to come to accept that and now they are changing all the rules. Sorry I am all over the place. I don't want the invasive pump put in. No more surgeries if possible. I am in the Knoxville area currently CVS, Walgreens, Walmart, Target pharmacy, Kroger pharmacy, and Sam's club no longer carry oxy's. People who want to abuse drugs will abuse them. I say let them have at it if it means those of us that need it can take it and live a somewhat normal life. I guess I will climb down off my soapbox now. Thank you for the no one should suffer comment. I believe that too. I played by the rules, did exactly what they told me to do, and I am clueless what my future is. I hope it will be larger than my bedroom. I'm done. Just overwhelmed.
I forgot to add that I just started taking Zoloft two days ago. 50 mgs. Will this cause problems with the zubsolv?
