Mallinckrodt Hydrocodone Inert Ingredients: Lactose

Does the hydrocodone-ACETAMINOPHEN contain lactose? I am very lactose intolerant. It causes lots of gas & bloating, which causes considerable more pain. Not a good thing when I'm taking it for severe pain (lower back). What are my alternatives?

I'm not certain which one you're asking about, since Mallinckrodt does manufacture several in different dosages, but so far from what I've found, none of them are listed as containing lactose.

The inactive ingredients are listed as being:

crospovidone
magnesium stearate
microcrystalline cellulose
povidone
corn starch
silicon dioxide
stearic acid

Since the Hydrocodone is a narcotic, it can cause constipation and some gastric upset, so what you're experiencing may just be due to the medication itself.

Have you talked to your doctor?

You may just need to try an entirely different medication.
