Macrobid For Kidney Infection

I have a severe kidney infection, and testing was done ie: xray, ultra sound, to determine if anything worse is going on, but I do not have a doctor's appointment for the results for 1 week. Is this medicine safe for my kidney ? I was prescribed a generic at 100 mg. I am a little concerned about some of the warnings

Have you contacted your doctor about your concerns?

This contains the active ingredient Nitrofurantoin, which is an antibiotic.

The current warnings about renal function are actually not conclusive and, if you do have a severe infection, not taking the antibiotic to treat it could be much worse than the possible dangers of using it.
