Ms Contin 60 Mgs With Ambien Cr

Can you safely take ambien CR while on MS Contin ER 60 mgs? The ms contin makes me sleepy but I still can't fall asleep. I've been taking ambien cr for over a year. My pain Dr. just switched hydrocodone for MS Contin.. any information on this combination will be appreciated. Thanks

It would be best to double check with your doctor, before combining these medications.

They both cause depression of the central nervous system, which may be problematic for some people. This might cause dangerously lowered heart rate, blood pressure and breath rate, which could lead to coma or be fatal.

The FDA classifies MS Contin as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

Some people can safely take them both, but it depends on you and your overall health.
