Mri When Metal Is Present
UpdatedI have recently had surgery and have pins and staples around the intestinal area. Would that present a danger when getting an MRI?

If they are constructed of materials that are magnetic, then yes, the NIH warns that it could cause a problem, since an MRI is magnetic resonance imaging. In many cases, providers are even hesitant to do them on someone that has worked in powered metal factories, or those who have tattoos containing metallic pigments.
Has your doctor instructed you to have an MRI done?
