Hi, Please help. Its my first time using contraceptives , im using Minerva I'm a bit confused ,according to the instructions im supposed to start on the silver coloured section and i must take a pill that concises with my period day. The starter portion has 7 pills (5 -white- non active- for Mon to Friday) ( 2-beige - active- for Satu to Sunday)

Now my periods started on the Sunday. Which means I must take the active pill. I want to know if this will not stop my periods for this month?? Because as far as I have read the periods takes place while you taking the non active pills.

You need to start the active pills the first day of your period, as instructed. It is normal for your period to be irregular, while taking a hormonal contraceptive, according to NIH warnings, other side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, weight changes, and mood changes.

If you take it the first day of your period, then you are immediately protected from pregnancy, but if you start it the third day of your period, or later, it will take a week to become effective.

There is no specific need for your period to start on any given day, or to last any certain time frame.

How are you doing, now?
