Methylphenid E 30mg Cap Gran

Is this the generic for Ritalin LA 30 mg? This is what the pharmacy filled, but I thought it should be Methylphenidate LA 30

It is the same medication, the LA, and the E both stand for the same thing, which denotes it as being a long acting, or delayed release medication. You might see other abbreviations, as well, including XR, ER, CR, SR, but they all mean the same thing. Personally, I think it would be better if they had one standard abbreviation to designate a medication as being time released, but at this time, they do not.

The FDA warns that Methylphenidate carries the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, insomnia, nervousness, and anorexia.
