This is generic oxycodone 5mg, or Roxicodone. It is a Schedule II controlled substance that is highly addictive, and used for moderate to severe pain. Side effects include marked drowsiness, alcohol intensifies this effect, dizziness, euphoria, constipation, among many others.

I just wanted to add that this is an instant release tablet, not controlled release like the generics for Oxycontin would be.

I thought I remember that being the case;however, the database I used to locate the medication did not say that. I was kind of surprised myself. I didnt list it that way because I didnt want to go against what the database said.

If you are using Walls for this, they never list it as instant release, they only list it differently if it is a controlled or extended release, so if it just doesn't have anything after the drug name, then it is instant release. Most pills are, it is actually the lower percentage that are controlled release.

Oh, and if you look at the manufacturers page, which for this one is also Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals, you will see they also list is a generic for OXY IR, which stands for Instant Release.

My doc even writes my prescription that way, for OxyIR, but my insurance insists on the generic so I get the Mallinckrodt tablets, I used to get the capsules, but hated them.

The IR capsules are different from the oxycodone tablets however. The regular oxycodone tablets such as Percocet take up to twenty minutes to relase, whereas the OXYIR takes only five minutes to release, so there is s difference. I do understand what you are saying about the extended release tablets though.
