Lyrica Lawsuit (Page 39) (Top voted first)
UpdatedDoes anyone know if there is an ongoing lawsuit against the company who puts out Lyrica? I am a mess from it. Do we have a leg to stand on when it comes to the side effects they found out from people like us? I am a long termer. I have been taking 900 mg since 2005. Is there anyone representing us? Thank you
T was on lyrica aout a month and a half I do not remember the starting or ending dose. I was told to sloly increase doasge until my arthritic pain went away with the doctor checking mme about every two weeks. I really do not remember. Things got pretty hazy. Ii could have been on it longer. I just do not know. I can not remember. I still have memory problems. I am currently learning keyboard skills. My brain knows where the keys are but the info seems to be not communicating to my fingers. Never had that problem before lyrica. I got off cold turkey. Kept a phone nearby, just in case. Luckily no problems. I have been off it six years now, but still have memory, concentration, and some coordination problems. I consider myself lucky compared to what some of you have experianced.
Nick- I was looking up Lyrica lawsuits yesterday and did find that lawsuits were settled for people under 18. Because it as you know was not approved or tested by the fda for children under 18. I can't remember what state it was settled. I didn't write it down and I was on Lyrica for 2 yrs! Good luck
Has any one out there still have memory and concentration problems years after ceasing Lyrica ? would realy like to know as my son has never been the same after takeing this bastard drug .
Nick..It seems from what users have posted on this site that it may depend on the dosage. While I was taking a relatively low dose I don't seem to be having any noticible lasting effects whereas those that took higher doses are left with devastating after effects. No one seems to know if they will diminish over time or if they are permanent.
I have been off of Lyrica for a year and still have memory and concentration problems and still twitch and I have cataracts which I was told were from taking this drug. I am in my early 40's and had perfect eye sight when I began taking Lyrica. I still have double vision and blurry vision a year after discontinuing.
I could read small print and do fine jewelry work prior to taking Lyrica. Now I cannot read fine print or even details on movie boxes and credits to see who is in a movie.
In 2006 Lyrica estimated $367 million in profit in 2007 profit went into billions when it was approved for treatment of fibromyalgia even though in studies patients had as much relief as patients on a placebo. They knew it didn't work at all for fibromyalgia but marketed as such. Also, in Europe it is banned because the risks outweigh the benefits.
At least this is what I found when I researched trying to get info on lawsuits
Lyrica has all these positive commercials on TV. Does anyone know someone who can produce negative commercials on TV which could reach people who are on lyrca and are not aware of this blog and may also be @ a loss as to what to do. Afterall if the politicians can post negative ads about their opponants, why can't we get EVERY SINGLE SIDE EFFECT out there. Anyone know someone on 60 minutes or any other top news show. Does anyone know if any of the state attorney generals, or the federal state attorney. I did find out there was a law suit against phizer when it was found out lyrica was prescribed to children under the age of 18,simply because it was not tested on that age group but Drs still prescribed it to underage children. I hope there is someone out there who knows someone else who knows someone else. I think our only hope is in commercial ads, investigative reporter, or some attorney general.
My son was on 300 mg per day which was a hefty dose , but have read of others that have been damaged on Lyrica on only 50 mg . To have any chance with litigation there needs to be verafiable evedence that the Lyrica has caused an injury . , so some thing like a nuro phsyc test or a brain scan or what ever will need to confirm an injury before any one can get a cent in compensation from this vile drug , we all know the effects of Lyrica but unless we can prove it medicaly it is our word against theres .
Cindy there are people on this site who have not taken lyrica for six years and still suffer from the side effects , my son has not had a dose for over 2 years and is still a mess from it . i would have to conclude from all the comments that i have read and from my own verifyable experience that Lyrica causes permanent irreversable damage to the brain .
Well, let us all try to find someone on lyrica, one who just got off, and some one off it for a while.I talked to a lawyer who told me about the underage kids. I also mentioned the blog. I talked to Mr."upsleijpl=-O. What an odd name. He did not say what country he lived in, but he is reading some of the blogs. Too bad we cannot give out our phone numbers or e-mails. I will see if I can find that lawyer number. I do not know if this blog will let ume put it in.
I found the number.maybe if we all call him, he will look into it. The lawyer's # is 877-534-5750. Everyone call. Maybe he will listen. Remember I said a lawyer talked about the under age presriptions of lyrica.
I am surprized they let me post it. He told me about the underage use of lyrica and there was a law suit, thought I would have to use a code. All of us onn or off lyrica for a short or long time call him!!!
Nick...I totally agree with you. I was really messed up when I was on it and for awhile after getting off of it, but I was only taking 150mg a day. I can see that I improved but I'm still not 100% either. I still have balance and coordination problems and fall alot which is resulting in alot of joint damage, nerve problems and in general injuries that I am not recovering from. Is my memory back to what it was? No but I'm not getting lost when I drive or forget where I'm going anymore. I know what it did to me and I'm mad as hell. Doing this to anyone is unspeakable let alone giving it to a child. Pfizer needs to be held accountable for what they've done AND profited from.
The drug company protects themselves from suits by listing side effects but there is one side effect that " we all have", that is not listed and that is that it created "Fear" I am afraid of trying any new drug that might help me because of the hell I've been through with Lyrica both on and off it. I suffer pain every day rather than try any other drug after Lyrica. I still feel like I was nothing more than test rat for this drug company . My fear of trying anything new is horrible. My itchiness is still a withdrawal nightmare. Carolyn from MA.
That is true, fear is not listed as a side effect yet they seem to enjoy inflicting it on their victims. Can't even report events to the medical board without them taking severe legal courses that further destroy lives needlessly apparently.
Thanks for your reply Mary , as i said earlyer , there needs to be verifyable evedence of what Lyrica has done to the brains of sufferes ,and this may be easyer said than done , other wise we can go on makeing our claimes here forever and get now here , only this will get the ball rolling and Fhizer knows it will be difficult to prove despite the huge number of individual complaints
I sent an email to the FDA about lyrica. They said they were sorry about all the damage the drug caused and sent me a form to fill out to file a complaint. I don't know how many other people have filed a formal complaint to the FDA but I think everyone who has ever taken it should.
Please post the FDA email address you sent it to.
Thx for info. Did u mention this blog for them to read and maybe investigate?
