Lyrica For Neuropathy And Fibromyalgia (Page 2) (Top voted first)
UpdatedI was just given Lyrica for my Neuropathy and Fibromyalgia. I start it tonight and will keep posted on how it does for me. My doctor said it would not hurt any drugs I am now on, which is a lot. And the side effects would be sleepiness.
I started taking Lyrcia 75mg twice a day. I call the drug a miracle, it has reduced my pain to almost nothing. It does effect my memory. I am going to talk to the Dr when I go back. I started on one pill. After 2 week to two pills. At first it really made me goofy. I never thought I could take two pills. But the pain relief is wonderful and I can deal with the memory problems for now.
After trying Gabapentin at 3000 mgs a day, I did have the MRI and then had a series of 3 cortisone epidurals. No change in the way I felt after 1st epidural but after 2d epidural and 3rd, ALL of my pain was gone! Unfortunately I can't have another epidural even if the pain returns for another 3-6 months because the pain doc gave me so much cortisone (also gave me a substantial injection in my left hip right after 3rd epidural). Said left hip was nothing more than a cyst. Now, three weeks after getting 3rd epidaural, I have same pain in right hip that I had in left hip but still can't get a cortisone injection because of all the cortisone I sitll have in my body from the 3 epidurals and one injection. I have to say that after the second epidural and after the third epidural I haven't had the pain inside right hip, thigh and knee for which I've been on Gabapentin I do have a friend with fibromyalgia who hasn't been able to find any relief from the pain - she's sooo reactive to Gabapentin, Lyrica and the like that she stops after one or two days, cause it leaves her feeling AWFUL - she's on 150 mgs of Lyrica per day and it makes her feel awful I'm gonna suggest taking only 100 mgs a day, because her doctor said, basically, it's 150 a day or don't bother using Lyrica - anyone know if that's true - if Lyrica won't work at 100 mg a day or even 50 mg a day? Thanks to all of you = this board was a big help to me and I hope it will be to my friend as well.
My doctor gave me Lycria and did not tell me of the side effects. Like swollen feet, legs, hands and knees, plus staying tired all the time, over Thanksgiving my feet swelled so bad I could hardly walk and my GP didn't have any idea what was causing all the sweling.I stopped taking the pills and all the swelling went down. It helped the pain I had some but the side effects were too much to take. I had to stay in bed for almost a week and I am still not over all of them. So please ask your doctor for all the side effects this drug causes.
I have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia for several years now. My pain dr. just gave me a prescription for Lycria, but my insurance (a private individual policy that we pay over $1000 a month for) will not approve it!!! I am livid! I would like the opportunity to at least try Lycria and see if it will help me. I've suffered for so long and would give anything for relief. This isn't even an HMO!! Help! Would it help if I called the Blue Cross myself? My own doctor couldn't convince them even with a diagnosis of fibromyalgia! Help!
Mary Beth
I've been take Lyrica for a bit over a month, I like what it has done for me as far as the pain goes, But I've gain about 20 plus pounds in the past month. I started exercising to try and stop the weight gain but I'm not sure thats helping.
Mary Beth I have Blue cross also and they pay 100% of mine, I wonder what the problem is. I take the Lyrica for Noroupathy maybe that's the difference.
After many years of pain in my back and down both legs my pain doctor put me on Lyrcia and what a difference it has made in my life. I finally get a full nights sleep and without pain and have much more get up and go. I take one in late afternoon and 2 at bedtime and this seems to work best for me.
I have found that Lyrica has made me eat everything in sight for the first3 months and gained 10 pounds that I can't shed now. That's the biggest side effect I found so far but one of the worse. The best part is it has helped with my pain.
I am taking Lycria now and i have a really bad taste in my mouth all the time does anyone else have that?
I have beem on Lyrica for a couple months. I titrated up to 300 mg BID and now my hands tremble and I have confusion. I am not sure if it is this drug the morophine or Baclofen, but I do not like this vibration I am feeling.
Lycria The first few hours after taking Lycria I got a bad mood Angry at the world etc as a T2 thought blood sugar was wrong after 4 hours became the opposite Happy and high full of energy. I have unbearable pain under the left ribs They think? Allodynia. I have tape stuck to me to stop clothes rubbing against skin which does help heaps. Driving in car is the worst. After a month of Lycria 75mg/75mg morn/night it has reduced pain 50%. Thou has not helped my pain in feet caused by T2 which you think it would. I would like to try a higher dosage to see if it helps more. I certainly have been sleeping more and eating more. With less activity and eating more will lead to weight gain so watching what snacks I am eating. But my frame of mind has improved heaps and look forward to doing my part time job each day look forward to anyone swapping helpful hints
i want to know what is it lyrica it is for nervs? where i can see its prescription?
hello fellower sufferers i was given lycria about 2 years ago after shingles left me in constant pain down my right arm the doctor just handed me a pricripton for lycria saying that will sort your pain out no mention of side effects etc the usual ! lets be honest must of us havnt a clue when they tell you anyway the internet has been a life saver in many ways
i have also fibromagia which i put up with but when i took lycria not only did it stop the pain it also make me feel better as in i felt for the first time in years i had a good nights sleep yes it does make you feel dizzy and weild like being stoned at first but when the pain goes your just grateful i take 50mg twice a day and that was enoght for me but i
now have problems with my back
nerve entrapment or somthing the pain is awful worse than my arm lycria ! when my dose was increased came to my rescue again i now take 75mg twice a day and one 25mg in the afternoom
my back isnt as bad now
the drug is very powerful its not a painkiller it acts on the brain bascaily tells the brain your not in pain
and for me it does work you also have to let it into your system to work it doesnt take long a day or two for whatever pain to ease
the only problem i have in taking it for my back problem is that i would like to know why my back is hurting and maybe try fixing it instead of masking it with lycria
but for me lycria works i think the problem is that it is being given in large amounts to start with and i think its best starting low i can just about bear 175mg a day but i know that i will have to go up in doses as the body gets used to it Baclofen is causing you this vibration i was on it for a short time the side effect were for me horrible couldnt speak couldnt walk from being able to do both before ! my advice for lycria is to start it low its like scales too little or too much tips it so start slowly it has been hailed as a wonder drug i would agree with that its stops nerve pain which is a diffcult pain to control it

For almost 20 years, I have had severe pain most of the time and severe weakness at times. I have a fever on and off every day, worst in the evening. I have reoccurring pericarditis about once every six weeks to two months. All my blood works shows nothing. As the years go by the symptoms get worst. The last few months I cannot function at all. I cannot even take care of myself. I have lost 50 pounds in the last few months. I now weigh around120. The weight lost is because I am so miserable, in so much pain I can't eat. No medication has ever been effective enough. Lyrica at 150mg. twice a day doesn't even put a dent in the pain. Why? Please help me!

Re: Donna (# 27)
Same here I gained 20 lbs in & can’t seem to loss it but, it has taken all the pain away in my legs, hips & back due to spinal surgery & neuropathy. The problem is a had just lost 30 pounds but I I guess it’s better then stuffing from this pain for over 30 years. I feel so much better now.
Re: Verwon (# 8)
Forget about going through insurance —- go through Good RX. My Lyrica would have cost hundreds of dollars for 3 months using my insurance which is a Medicare Advantage plan. I get a supply of 270 pills, 75mg for $28 through Good RX — NO INSURANCE INVOLVED.
