Lyrica For Lupus
UpdatedJust got to the end of week one taking Lyrica @75mg twice daily. I have had Lupus for ten years and my nerves are getting fried. Has anyone else experienced MORE pain at the beginning of this process? I usually have intermittent pain in various parts of my body from the Lupus which worsens if I'm having a flare up. But since starting the Lyrica my pain level has increased in every part of my body simultaneously. I'm hoping that this will go away after a few weeks but my fear is that it will just keep getting worse, so for now I feel like I'm just poisoning myself with every dose. I haven't seen a post on here describing this situation yet, hopefully someone can relate and help calm my nerves. (Double entendres not intended) Thanks

That is always possible with such medications, due to the fact that they do have an effect on your nerves. Many antidepressants can cause similar issues, during the early weeks of starting them.
Other side effects, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache and weight gain.
However, if the pain becomes severe, or doesn't improve after about 4 to 5 weeks of taking it, then it may not be the right medication to help you.
Is there anything else I can help with?
