Lyrica And Swollen Stomach

I had been on 75mg of lyrica and 100gr of tramadol for about one year. I was mostly in severe pain due to a severed nerve that a lady dentist did to me in Canada.
I was on 100mg of lyrica every 4 hrs. before that for only two months.but couldn't afford $350.00/mo the cost of lyrica. I started back on the 100mg of lyrica about 3 months ago. I have had now 4 bad side effects.
1. weight gain
2. bloated stomach -like I am 6 mo. pregnant
3. severe joint pain
4. muscle spasms mostly in right foot & gen. weakness

I go to the gym every day some days work out 5 hours and no result
My stomach also looks still like I am also ready to give birth
The lyrica is the only thing that helps get rid of my headaches
I need to replace it so I won’t look so bloated

It will so that by masking it.when I was on it I gained tons of weight.

Concerning my bloated stomach from taking the drug Lyrica, I had an appointment with my new Doctor today and she weighed me. I weighed 167 lbs. Normally always I am under 130 lbs all of my life. Of course I am very upset. Also she gave me a prescription for amtriptylene to replace lyrica. She said something that I found strange. She said that it would replace my sleeping pills zoplicone and also take away the pain from my nerve damage all the next day. Does anyone know anything about this? Of course I found this hard to believe but will wait and see.

Because my stomach is becoming more and more bloated, I am looking like I am about to give birth!
What can I do except stop taking Lyrica for my nerve damage. Tomorrow I am seeing my doctor and hopefully she will have some ideas of replacements for this drug.

Hi Evelin,

I don't know what good it will do, but you can always report these side effects to the FDA's MedWatch program at:
fda.gov/Safety/MedWatch/default.htm

If you're able to, I would also highly recommend consuming a lot more fruits and vegetables to help counteract a lot of these side effects. Mother nature usually knows what's best ;)

Has your doctor made any changes in your dosing to help avoid some of these adverse effects?
