Lyrica And Gastric Bypass

I started taking Lyrica 7 years ago for nerve pain due to adhesions following tummy tuck. Lyrica worked better for me than Gabapentin and was the answer to my prayers. Since then I have gained a lot of weight though I didn't link it with the Lyrica until starting to read around it now. I have arranged to have a gastric bypass in 2 weeks but now wonder whether, if I could get myself off the Lyrica, the weight disappear too.
Another related question - the one I originally came onto the forum to ask - is about what will happen after the bypass when I think the Lyrica will not work any more because it won't get digested normally?
Very confused now. Any advice welcomed.

Yes, there is a chance that the weight gain is due to the Lyrica. These medications are actually well known to cause it, so you may be able to avoid the surgery.

As to how well it will work after the surgery, I am not sure. Have you discussed it with your doctor?
