Lyrica And Nerve Pain (Top voted first)
UpdatedIs Lyrica beneficial for nerve pain?

I just got diagnosed with torm muscles and severe nerve damage to scapula after 4 1/2 yrs of being a lab-rat, after a work related injury. The specialist put me on Lyrica only a few days ago. I not am not sure what to think of it yet as I feel like I am floating in mid-air and feel like I have a permanent huge hangover. It has been impossible for me to concentrate on anything, including conversations. Although I have more energy, I feel like I am forcing myself to stay awake. This is the worse feeling I have ever had, especially when my pain level has not decreased. This is the strongest and I must say strangest medication I have ever had, I hope they find an alternative for me.
Lyrica contains the active ingredient Pregabalin. This is an anticonvulsant that has also been shown to help some people with certain types of nerve pain.
The side effects you are experiencing are normal and should go away in few weeks, once your body adjusts to the medication. Since this is not actually a pain medication, like a narcotic or other analgesic, it will also take several weeks to reach a full therapeutic effect in your body to see if it helps with your pain.
If you see no results after several weeks of use, or the side effects continue, then please speak to your doctor.

I know when I was suffering pain from spinal issues, this class of medications did nothing for me, like I said, they do not work for everyone, nor for all types of pain.
Please post back and let us know how you are doing!
