You are not supposed to drink while on Lyrica. I made the big mistake of doing that. I took my dose in the morning and then got invited by some friends to go out. I do not usually drink, but started drinking around 9:30 pm. I was found in an alley behind a restaurant at 4 am. The last thing I remember was last call at 2am. I am only posting this to give a VERY strong warning not to drink while on this medication. Luckily I am OK and still alive. It is a horrible feeling to not know what happened in those 2 hours. Please do not drink while on Lyrica.

I was on Lyrica 600 milligrams a day for 3 years. I'm still at experiencing side effects 2 years later. The medication itself did wonders for me like no other has been able to but the side fects were unbelievable and I finally had to cold turkey stop taking it when I could no longer put shoes on my feet from the swelling . People close to me while I was on it said that I became a lunatic and some to this day think I am a drug addict of some sort due to my behavior change. The cost was unbelievable and side effects appear to be lif e long. At the same time I say it's a miracle and a demonic drug. I think you are blinded to the evil of it by all the benefits and it is best to leave the decision whether or not to take it up to someone close to you because by the time you are affected negatively .... your brain is fried. I went cold turkey from it and it took almost 2 weeks (in bed mostly) to have any sense of normalcy in my life.
So alcohol added to this drug I'm sure can harm tremendously.
I would never add alcohol to any drug taken for pain or mood issues and if you are taking Lyrica I beg that you have an outside source evaluate how it effects you and whether you should be on it.

I had shingles,three years ago, in the cornea of my eye two times. I have terrible burning pain on the left side of the head, forehead, in my eye ,and down to the tip of my nose. My shingles turned into PHND. I have been on Lyrica /450 mg a day for the three years. I have had a long journey of going to many doctors but it was worth it! I finally found a wonderful neurologist that is helping me. My burning and itching is still happening on the top of my head and forehead . Is anyone else having this problem?

I have a serious drink problem. My doctor is aware of this yet has prescribed Pregabalin for severe pain.
Might this be dangerous?

I also have been drinking pretty regularly while on lyrica, and black out almost every time i do. I've woken up standing in the middle of my stair case, like i just fell asleep while going upstairs. Last night i woke up at 4a,leaning against my bed standing up with the light on. I have no recollection of leaning up against my bed, but there i was. Last thing i remember was thinking of going to bed around 1130. Sleeping standing up is a new thing for me. It's like my brain will just randomly shut down, completely. I really need to stop drinking while taking lyrica, which i am going to do now that I've put 2 and 2 together. I just thought i had developed narcolepsy lol.

I have switched to a drug called Horizant which is supposed to be just like Lyrica without the side effects. Has anyone else heard of this drugs or are taking it. What a difference no swelling no brain fog all kinds of benefits.... perfect. I'm curious to see if anyone else gets put on this pill so please let me know.

I also have something similar to you called long thoracic neuropathy under the scapula. I get nerve pain on the opposite side of the nerve damage and all the way up to my face. Because of that they're worried I have an autoimmune. I'm hoping it's just the nerve damage. So I wanted to ask you if you ever got nerve pain on the opposite side of the body of your injury and up to your face ? Did taking this medicine help all that nerve pain? How did having a beer worked out? I'm thinking about having one drink on the weekends when I go to happy hour with my friends.

Twice this has happened to me, it didn't say on the instructions not to take alcohol, but both times I'd been out with friends and later in bed a good few hours later, my nerve pain started, and I couldn't get comfy so I took my 2 lyrica tabs, after a hour or so after taking them I felt really sick, and 2nd time I broke out in a cold sweat, was quite frightening. It just dawned on me it could be the lyrica. It's happened twice now, I know if I'm out socialising again to miss them out completely.

The first and last time I ever took Lyrica, I apparently went to my fiances kitchen to get a drink and ended up DRIVING 16 miles HOME and I remember NOTHING. I DESPISE LYRICA. The DEA wants to take away opiates from people like myself who are in LEGITIMATE PAIN all the time and let the doctors they HAVE NOT arrested prescribed medications like Lyrica instead. Admirable reasoning. You see, I am FUNCTIONALLY DEPENDENT upon opiates. I can work, drive, be a good citizen like you all want because they DO NOT MAKE ME FEEL HIGH, all they do is keep me out of pain and withdrawal. But LYRICA and these new "better than opiate" replacements?? I'm absolutely certain I couldn't function at all on those. ESPECIALLY LYRICA. And that's without alcohol.

I have been on lyrica for more than 10 years now. 150mg a day I have never had a blackout. I drink beer everyday and have had no side effects. So it really Sounds like its different for everyone to me.and I most definately think it is the Best option for nerve pain.

Im on Lyrica for disc bulges and im in a constant state of feeling like ive had a drink. Made the mistake of having a few beers at a family BBQ and ended up totally off my head running round the garden doing aeroplane impressions.
Id only had the equivelent of 5 pints over 8hours!
I hadly ever drink and that amount of alcohol over that long would normally keep me at a constant state of half cut. Instead It was comparable to a full on bender!

Luckily I had no sickness or hangover. I wouldn't recomend mixing them as the result seems to be very unpredictable.

Your problem stemmed from the fact ur not a heavy drinker..... alcohol and lyrica bind gaba receptors... it would be similar to ativan and alcohol... if ur a novice narcotic user u will black out... personally i can handle oxycodone lyrican and drink.. and remain conscious lol... not a good thing means my receptors are down regulated.... but a non drinker will have problems...double alcohol content should be expected... take 3 shots expect the same as 6 shots on lyrica.

I also take 600mg a day for the past 9 years and I have no side effects when drinking. I've drank up to 7 glasses of wine in a night and was drunk but completely fine, no nausea and I remember everything and even walked home myself. Everyone is different though. If you are to consume alcohol make sure you're with someone you trust just in case you have issues

Can you please tell me, detailed, what I need to ask my doctor? I go on the 6th. I've been on Lyrica for 4 years now and my pain is getting worse. Last night I had a few drinks and blacked out, don't remember anything and woke up on the bathroom floor.

Yes, the dry mouth makes you drink faster. I try to drink glass of water between beers. But usually fail.

i have experienced a really bad bout of nausea vomiting and diarrhea whilst taking lyrica then had a lot to drink at a wedding. I thought I had food poisoning the next day. The next time the same thing happened when I had a lot to drink at a birthday party. I took Lyrica just before I went to bed. I wasnt that drunk but had been drinking steadily throughout the day. During the night and next day I felt really bad with nausea and diarrhea.
