Lyrica, Topamax, And Meloxicam-is Anyone Taking This Combo?

I have been on Topamax (Topiramate) for a couple of years for migraines-200mgs twice a day. It makes a HUGE difference for me. I had an injury a few months ago and my doctor recently started me on Meloxicam (aka Mobic) 15mg once a day. It does seem to help and has not really affected me in any negative way as long as I eat when I take it. My doctor is going to start me on Lyrica also. I am wondering if anyone else has had this combination of all three, or a combination of even two of these medications. FYI-I cannot take Neurontin-I tried that several years ago and it led to depression. My doctor is aware of the problem and so he is going with Lyrica instead of Neurontin. The only side effect I have dealt with regarding Mobic is slight appetite loss, nothing else. I am concerned about the weight gain and swelling I keep seeing people write about regarding Lyrica. Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

My friend, a lawyer, was prescribed Lyrica for severe pain after back surgery & wouldn't take it because it causes depression (especially if you have a predisposition for this). Be very wary. Also, litigation is happening because of its supposedly causing Alzheimer's. So do some research, it's too hard to go back. Prevention is better than a cure. My friend had severe migraines lasting 3 days for 30 yrs - went off gluten - migraines gone. Worth a try. Good luck.
Re: Verwon (# 1)
I've been on topimax and Lyrica... Lyric was the worst drug I've ever encountered and I don't advise anyone take it... It increased insomnia, caused memory loss, and I was so high I couldn't even walk in a straight line let alone take care of my children
hi guys just leting yall know i have been on lyrica and subboxone for about 7 years and my memory is shot useing lyrica for nerve pain in ribs and to help geting off the subs so far no luck but determined to quit . if i can remember to do so lol
Re: Verwon (# 1)
Lyrica: permanent vision damage - uveitis! Horrible! The Topamax helps much with Trigeminal Neuralgia headaches from hell. Meloxican not bothering me. My short term memory is shot, from Lyrica? I was taking 300 mg daily for a short time, 2 months or less.
I was on Topamax years ago, the side effects were worse than the Lyrica. I felt like I was spaced out all the time, also had memory problems. So I just stopped it and have actually been lucky with my migranes. The Lyrica has really given me memory problems and weight gain. When I go see my DR I am going to see about changing my meds.
I take Topamax (200mg 2x daily) & was put on Lyrica a few yrs back. I have chronic migraines & chronic pain. My dr told me to wean off of the Topamax before starting the Lyrica. After getting down to 100mg 2x daily I could start the Lyrica, but to eventually stop the Topamax. After taking them together for about 2 weeks, I thought I was going crazy. I starting having suicidal thoughts, I starting having an lonely, empty feeling inside. I felt like I needed to run home, but it was like I didn't know where home was. (I have lived at the same place for over 20 yrs) So, if you feel safe taking them together, that's up to you, but I wouldn't tell anyone to do it. I stopped taking the Lyrica cold turkey, even though it's not recommended, but I figured I couldn't feel any worse than what I already was. After that, I went back to feel like myself.
Lyrica did cause some weight gain for me, but as importantly, it makes it difficult to lose weight. I do take Lyrica for my chronic migraines, and gave up Topamax years ago, as it did not do the job. (Recently, I gave up most gluten, and most sweets, and this has helped me to lose weight, albeit slowly...)
Have you started the Lyrica, yet? If so, how are you doing with it?
The FDA classifies it as an antidepressant, so it is in the same class as the Neurontin, thus there is a risk it could also cause you to suffer depression.
Its other side effects, may possibly include nausea, dizziness, dry mouth and weight gain.
Can anyone taking these medications chime in?
