Lyrica Side Effects Results In Loss Of 13 Teeth (Page 2) (Top voted first)

I am the patient of a pain management physician because there is nothing else that can be done for my back other thantry to manage my pain. I have had 19 back surgeries, including rods, broken back and rods on right side. My last surgery was the insertion of two morphine pain pumps, which caused my body to reject the plastic or some component thereof. They also inserted two dual-lead dorsal column stimulators, and even though all four of these pumps worked successfully, my body also rejected come component in the stimulators as well. One of the largest problems, second only to the pain, was the fact that I had 5 deep wound that went all the way down to my rectus muscle in my stomach. I had a staph infection from the pump as well as the stimulator. It took 6 months of wound care from the pain pumo, and now I am left with the most hideous scar. Same problem with my back, Oh well....this was supposed to be about LYRICA! Since January 2005, my doctor placed me on Lyrica and I thank God for it, because it has helped a great deal with my pain, however, after having to make an appointment to see an oral surgeon to remove all my teeth because of the Lyrica, I am LIVID!! No one eluded to the fact that Lyrica cound cause my teeth to rot out of my head, when I had the most wonderful white straight teeth. I just celebrated my 46th birthday a little over a week ago and I am facing dentures right in the mouth! There out to be a disclaimer, of which there were one. I am a label reader, and read instructions implicitly. At any rate, that won't help the halth of my mouth at this point. Is there a class action law suit out there somewhere, that would at the very least pay for any dental work, or at least warn those in the future? BE WARNED! You deserve a right to be informed. I had a serious accident that nearly killed me. I fell down the stairs at home and went through a large glass vase with catastrophic injuries to my hand and arm. This was over four years ago I take a high dose of morphine daily along with 800mg of pregablin.
I have also had a spinal chord stimulator fitted to try and help with the pain.
I have had perfect teeth up to six months ago when Iam now in severe pain in the whole of my mouth. Am having many many trips to my dentist and now having to see a specialist re my teeth I have just come accross this sight after googling the side effects of pregablin/lyrica and this has frightenend the life out of me and do hope it is not too late too late to save my teeth . I will be making an appointment with my doctor tomorrow to have the pregablin reduced ASAP Please please if some one out there gets a lawer to take this up please get in touch with me .
Prior to my accident I was a healthy fifty year old male in good shape going to the gym running etc now I have put on nearly three stone in weight and find it very very difficult to get m motivated.

I started lyrica about 2 months ago for a freak accident that happened to me while watching tv , I got 6 sharp shocks in the back of my head , started stuttering n shaking , went to hospital , had ct of head which was fine. I started having burning in the back of my head really bad . Saw a neuro and she put me on lyrica . I recently increased my dose and my stomach is so bloated , my face n eyes are swollen in the morning . I also noticed a change in the frequency of urination , I've been going like crazy, asked my dr , she says its not related. After reading all the above stories, I'm not so sure I believe that !!! I was on Lyrica for about a year and a half. I took it because of herniated disc pain in my cervical spine and a fusion. I was in severe pain I thought. While on Lyrica, I was a zombie and could not even drive a car. I had no pain while on it though. I would sleep 15 hours a day and do nothing. I decided I wanted to be alive again. I slowly got off it. I had symptoms of wasp stings all over my body for four months. My doctor asked me if I was sure I wanted to get off it. She told me most people cannot get off Lyrica. I have read that it feed your cannabanoid and opiate receptors.
It has been seven months now and I still have prickles all over constantly. I have become allergic to wheat and gluten. I have lost 6 waist sizes, as I gained 30 pounds while on Lyrica. I regret ever going on it and I glad I am finally off of it. I am off all my meds. I am 63 and have never felt clearer in my head. I do have some physical pain but I would rather feel the pain. After finally getting off it I discovered I had a rotary cuff problem and a back problem. Lyrica masked all of these symptoms.

YES, CAREFUL WITH LYRICA .. ALL TEETH TOWARD BACK JUST TURNED BLACK!! I ALSO AM UNABLE TO WALK AS IT CAUSED ADVERSE REACTION- ATCUALLY CAUSED NERVE DAMAGE TO MY LOWER EXTREMETIES!! THEN I WAS PLACED ON BACLOFIN ALSO ADVERSE REACTION CAUSING ME TO HAVE SPASMS AS IT IS SUPPOSE TO HELP BUT I NEVER HAD NERVE DAMAGE OR SPASMS BOTH MEDICATION CAN CAUSE SO MANY PROBLEMS PLEASE BE CAREFUL - I'M LOOKING FOR LAWYER NOW GIVEN UP STOPPING THE MEDICATION DID NOT HELP ME!! I DON'T KNOW THE ANSWER:"( JUST SUE G.J. MUST DO SOME RESEARCH.. I'M WORKING ON THIS NOW . ANY RESPONSE WOULD BE HELPFUL... I am also patient on lyrica for many years now.I just loss my 5th tooth today.The first one came out when I I have stage 4 copd as if thats not enough I must have my teeth fall out.Wow what luck.I also wish I had someone to pay for me to have my teeth roots cut out of my gums,and some dentures Im on disability and I dont have dental ins.pleaase let me know about any law suites to lyrica.

Hi After reading some of the new posts and having the medical knowledge I have gained from various physicians I have been to the proof is in the pudding.I have the begginning of osteoporosis.I take 1200mg.of calcium with vitaminD plus daily Multi vitamin and have been prescribed morphine lyrica tegretol and heart medication plus asthma medsall medications were started at various times within an 8 year time period.I had been prescribed other mess the two years prior to the past 8years.My teeth began falling out in the past 6 years to present.It makes so much sense that Lyrics is the culprit.I wonder if there has been a pharmaceutical investigation on Lyrics?If not as we can all assume that they are not willing to assume fault.We should all visit with a law firm willing to investigate our problems rather than everyone go to various law firms who might not get the ball rolling because I feel it would stregnthen the problem and its stronger to go in numbers even if we cannot travel here and there we have the phone and email to converse and some law firms have out of state firms that they work with.With so many of us on the same medication with similar problems it appears to be lyrics.I would not mind if someone contacted me.I am going to call an attorney and press them on our problem.It certainly is not fair to anyone of us to experience further medical or dental problems we don't need it!I know I don't and I really cannot afford another problem.I have tried so hard not to by taking the least amount of medications I had a neuron stimulator placed in my back and now I have to have a revision and I have done everything I could to control my complex regional pain syndrome and low back problems that I m angry and frustrated and not much is working.At 51 years old I should be enjoying life rather than living my life at the doctors office!I am not looking for an excuse to blame someone it just seems unfair to be mislead by physicians pharmaceutical companies and the rest of the medical world.My stimulator was put in supposedly to help my pain which is in my left leg and low back the stimulator does not cover my low back after 4years of explaining to my doctors my back is killing me and I just found out the stimulator electrodes needs to be moved for low back coverage not that its the perfect treatment but it is better than having a higher dowager of medication and more meds. I'm very curious about what kind of testing was done by the FDA or tracking is being done by the CDC. This is a hideous outcome for people in pain already, especially those with little income and zero Medicare Dental Coverage.

I gained 30 lb on Lyrica. I've been off it for over 4 years & still can't back to my "pre-Lyrica" weight. I didn't get tooth problems until it was too late. Ihad been on it for about a year. I had many crowns. I went faithfully every 6 months to have my teeth cleaned. My teeth have always been sensitive. Then on my one of my 6 month appointments my dentist said I had 13 cavities within 6 months. I read a book for women on thyroid disease. It said hypothyroidism could cause cavities. I went on thyroid medicine. I got all cavities fixed. Sadly within a year my teeth started just snapping off at the base. Ihad to have 3 of the bases removed by oral surgeon because they had root canal posts still in.. two more broke off. My dentist said he couldn't even clean my teeth because they are all rotting from inside out. I should get them all removed but I don't have the money & I can't go thru any more pain. I live with fibromyalgia & interstitial cystitis already. I went from a full set of nice teeth to missing teeth in every quadrant. I'm missing 3 teeth in right lower that makes me lisp if I don't work at talking. I'm furious. It's obviously a problem but still no mention by pharmaceutical company that makes Lyrica. I wondered if Neurontin caused same problems?

I have been on Lyrica for one year and a half my teeth are just breaking off I have always had beautiful teeth I feel like I could die because I am so depressed with this situation

I have just been put back on Lyrica for about 6 months now and I have noticed that my teeth are just cracking off even at the push of a finger. They are very brittle now and I have 7 teeth that are missing at least half of the tooth now in less than 4 months time. I had a beautiful smile before taking this medication. Now I hate to smile as my perfect teeth are missing or half gone. I have done been told by the dentist that I would need major dental surgery to fix the issues or to have all of my teeth pulled and have false plates put in and I am only 36 years old. I also suffer from extreme muscle weakness now like my muscles don't even want to work anymore. I am tired all the time and my body just feels worn down from sun up to sun down. I have done a ton of research and have found I am not the only one having this issue after taking this drug. I also notice this is not on their list of side effects which seems weird to me since so many people are online complaining about this side effect with your medication. Something needs to be done here there is no way someone like me should be loosing my teeth like this one after another at such a young age.

I just found this thread after spotting someone link Pregabalin to tooth rotting on some druggie forum. I've been on it for about 6 months since I fell down the stairs and got nerve damage, and last month my front tooth just split in half. Within a couple of weeks it crumbled away and so did three other crowns, leaving me with a three-tooth gap on the right side. It seemed surreal and horrifying, but I thought maybe its the result of nearing 50 and having genetically rotten teeth. Now I'm convinced its the Pregabalin which I won't touch again. Right now I don't have the pain in my foot, but it will come back and I dread it without the only painkiller that worked. And now I'm scared that all my teeth are ready to drop out. Already had loads of painful, expensive dental work done.Is the damage irreversible? I doubt my doctor will have a clue. My life has fallen apart.

I'm also on lyrica and I have lost all my top teeth and all but 7 lower teeth. I wasn't told this was even a possibility when I started.

Have you tried Kratom to help alleviate at least some of your pain?
I had some teeth rot from Candida & Sjogrens, over the top humiliating when YOU know you always took care of your teeth.
So yeah, just now getting used to my partial, being I've already been sufficiently humbled.

Anyone out there considering Lyrica don't do it!

I less than 2 months I lost dental enamel, and chipped teeth! I haven't any way to pay for the work that needs to be done to save my teeth.

I'm beyond sorry about your dental damage, I was fortunate to catch my dental damage before it went so far. I beleive that we all need to ban together and contact Pfizer and demand payment for our dental work.

Oh my Lord, I'm so sorry! I'm so fortunate that I detected Lyrica's side effects quickly before all of my teeth were ruined. I'm in such agony especially due to a rare incurable autoimmune disease that happened after 6 years of chronic back pain. It's going to be hard due to my agony, but I'd like to contact newspapers if anyone is willing to send me before and after photos of their teeth. I'd like to warn all that I can regarding the side effects of Lyrica. I told my pain Dr. that Canada has it on its warning label now. The worst thing is that they attest to the fact that it causes permanent memory loss but that's O.K. with the FDA. I don't know if you can post photos on this, if you can't post photos from here for me, let me know.
