Lost Rx In Nj Airport What Do I Do? On Vacation For Another 10days.
UpdatedHi, I need help please. I was leaving for vacation last Wednesday from Newark airport. We were frantically trying to catch our plane(which we ended up missing anyways) when I realized that either my carry on bag was lost or stolen in the shuffle. Between my husband and my two kids bags plus my own. Figures it'd be my bag with my oxy 15mg oxy 30mg morphine and muscle relaxers. The only positive is that I always carry some in my purse, but never more then 10 of each for obvious reasons. So, anyway I'm starting to get down to nothing, and have been taking next to nothing and my drs office is on vacation too?? Idk what to as I am supposed to be on vacation for another 10days with my family and really don't want to be sick. Any suggestions??? Even a home made remedy to make it easier??

Hi, that sucks....it happened to me once too. Luckily, Mine were "lost" (they were really stolen out of my bag) on the way back, so I was able to let me PM doctor know and he gave me a new prescription) You can always go to the Emergency Room at a Hospital, (dont go to a walk in emergency medical place) and they will give you a prescription for about 10-15 pills, just tell them what happened and that you are in intense pain. Also, tell them what your doctor usually precribes and they will should give you 10mg percocets. This way your insurance will cover it since it is a different drug (typically, all it has to be is a different milligram or different instructions on how/when to take them). The hospital will probably give you some pain injections, so you will need someone with you to drive you back. If your doctor gets back from vacation before you return, he can call in vicodin to a pharmacy near wherever you are, just have a telephone number and the name of the pharmacy ready......at least that was the case about a year ago. I do not know if that has changed since then. They can call in vicodin/hydrocodone, but NOT percocet/ oxycodone. This should at least keep you from getting sick. I hope this helps. GOOD LUCK!!
Thank you! I'm only in florida but feel like I'm a world away from home in NJ.. I don't know anyone or any local dr's or hospitals. I have no insurance, because I lost my job and then lost my state coverage too not to long ago. Is there a cheaper hospital, or one that takes paymemt? That's the reason I was thinking of going to a clinic
Lex Joe said everything I thought of probably better than I could have. The dr.s in FL are really going through legal issues, I would just go to ER then when you get home see if you qualify for patient assistance as far s the bill goes
@lex81,
I'm not sure if Joe has already answered all of your questions, but I thought I'd mention a couple homeopathic remedies I know of, that you could consider if you aren't able to get your medications.
The first is essential oils, there are different oils that can be used for pain relief and to relieve stress, tension, and stomach issues. Grade A essential oils are the best because they are completely pure and are normally made from organically grown plants which are distilled using steam distillation at a specific temperature. Some herbs/oils that can be used for chronic pain are kava kava, betony, and rosemary. Rosemary’s strong analgesic qualities make it very beneficial when used as massage oil for muscle aches and/or headaches. Oregano, thyme, ginger, vetiver, cypress, eucalyptus are oils that can do a great job of treating back pain and on top of that, they also have a very high (15,000-200,000 +) ORAC value (according to the ORAC scale on antioxidant capacity). ORAC stands for oxygen radical absorption capacity. The larger the number (ORAC value) is, the higher the amount of antioxidants and free-radical fighting properties. Seeing as those oils have such a high ORAC value, means that they are extremely healing on a holistic level.
Next, I'd recommend acupuncture or acupressure if you're able to have it done while on vacation. It's quick and relatively painless. I had
acupuncture done on a painful nerve in my foot and it was very successful!
I hope this extra information is helpful, please post back if you have any questions! :)
