Losartan And Hctz Hives And Itching

I have been taking the 100/25 pale yellow tablet mfg by TEVA. My pharmacist claims they cannot get the tablet due to formulation problems at the mfg. I have been taking a green tablet 100mg Losartan along with a separate HCTZ tablet made by IVAX. I have broken out in hives and itching. This is not the same formulation I was taking before. Going back to the Dr tomorrow. Has there been a report about this before?

It certainly sounds like you may be allergic to something in one of the tablets.

And yes, unfortunately, there has been a shortage. It was reported by all manufacturers a few months ago and was supposed to be resolved in a short period of time, but this obviously has not happened. They've also not provided any explanation for the shortage.

It would probably be best to talk to your doctor about using a different medication.
