Losartan Peripheral Neuropathy

Can peripheral neuropathy be a rare side effect of Losartan? I just cut back from 100mg/day to 50mg/day. I also get leg/foot cramps while sleeping, tightness in my calfs while walking, and just recently developed a dry cough. These other symptoms are more common - are they not?

Not seeing foot and leg numbness anywhere as a side effect? It's the number one most common side effect. The Mayo Clinic says this as well as many other sources. There are thousands of such complaints on the internet. It made my feet go numb. My ***** Dr seems unaware of this. He was also unaware that ARBs, calcium channel blockers and Ace Inhibitors dont cause erectile dysfunction like the garbage, hctz and lisinopril, that he had me on. Losartan eliminated this horrible side effect, because it is a vasodilator which widens blood vessels. The mechanism which dilates your blood vessels likely causes numbness in the extremities.
Hello, Joanna! How are you?
No, I'm not seeing that listed anywhere among the side effects provided by the FDA, though yes, it can cause pain in some people that take it. You may also experience dizziness, nausea and increased urination.
However, if you have the dry cough, you should speak to your doctor as you will most likely need to switch to a different medication. Once the coughing starts, it doesn't usually go away.
Is there anything else I can help with?
