Im 28 and live in memphis, tn and need a dr who will prescribe me meds while im looking for insurance and figuring surgery out. I cant even wash dishes and sit comfortably amymore without the pain and twitching and severe poppong and burning and stabbing pains. I need one asap. Only loratab 10 s and oxys work for me to do anything. Tried many relaxers and they never work or even touch. Only to clean is with pain meds. And having a 4 yearold son is ten times harder cause i cant do much with him. Its physically amd now mentally exhauting trying to find a dr who cares and helps. Please help me someone.

I am very sorry that you are suffering so badly, I hate to see anyone in such a sad situation.

As to a doctor, I know it's hard without insurance due to the expense, but nonetheless, under the new laws you are going to have to pursue pain management. General practitioners and surgeons will only be allowed to prescribe controlled substance medications for short-term treatments, such as right after someone has had surgery or been in an accident and is recovering.

Anyone requiring long-term treatment for chronic pain will have to see a specialist to continue being treated, due to extreme concerns over people being over prescribed medications and mismanaged.

Learn more pain management details here.

Learn more Oxycontin details here.

That said, the best advice I can give you is to not ask any doctor about prescribing any specific medication, when you first call to set up an appointment. Doing so if usually perceived as being drug seeking behavior and most places won't even let you in the door for an initial appointment.

Does anyone know of a specialist they can recommend in that area?
