Looking For An Anxiety Psychiatrist/doctor Who Is Willing To Script Alprazolam

I live in Charleston and am looking for a doctor who doesn't have a problem scripting alprazolam. I don't misuse it and it's the only thing that has ever helped me feel NORMAL. I've tried buspar - doesn't work for me. I've tried depression meds-didn't work. Moved here from Illinois about 6mos ago and I'm finding it very difficult to find any info online. Any help would be appreciated.

Due to the new regulations that were put in place last year, if you require such a medication on a long-term ongoing basis, you'll need to see a specialist, now. A regular PCP won't be able to prescribe it for you.

And since this is a controlled substance that carries the risk of being habit forming, you can't really shop for doctors by asking whether or not they will prescribe it. Doctors are taught to view that as being drug seeking behavior, so most won't even let you get in the door for an appointment. You need to see them, without asking for such a medication up front and then let your medical records speak for themselves. Once they see what has and hasn't worked for you in the past, as documented by a fellow physician, they will be more prone to prescribe accordingly.

This medication could cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache and irritability.

What you'll most likely need to do is get yourself set up with a PCP that can refer you to a specialist.

Can anyone recommend a good doctor in that area?
